  1. We'll try to remember your new name, Evan.
  2. They're sold out. I was looking for it over there. But I'm sure they will get it back in stock. (The bastards!)
  3. More advice on the subject: Credit card companies are often willing to work out deals. They might forgive your debt if you are able to pay them a portion of it lump sum. They know very well that it is better to get some of their money back than none at all. You must communicate to them that you do not have the wherewithal to pay them back. This strikes me as a better alternative to bankruptcy. Bankruptcy often amounts to a long term debt payback schedule; and in the meantime, you're credit history is destroyed irrevocably. Avoid bankruptcy if at all possible. Good luck!
  4. I'll keep that in mind, Lon. Appreciate the advice.
  5. Happy Birthday young man. It's great to be 18!
  6. Good luck, Shawn. Hope things go well for you.
  7. I've been looking for Three Sounds, "Feelin' Good" on TOCJ or JRVG for some time now. This is the only Sounds Blue Note I don't have. Anyone want to sell or trade me a copy? Much obliged...
  8. How can you not like the vocals of Flora Purim? (sp?) I love the vocals on the Duke Pearson set, and I'm jumping on the upcoming reissue of "The Phantom."
  9. You're giving me too much credit here, Chucky. I am not as reasonable about this as you might assume. Old Milwaukee has convinced me to give up on Mosaic without trying any other. I just like the Japanese and RVG sonic upgrades. Really makes a difference to my ears. No McMaster stuff for me, thanks!
  10. No, I didn't; nor did I expect to. Why pay full price from me when you can just order it from Mosaic. I sold it for $37 with shipping included. I'm not involved in the game of marking up Mosaics. I don't plan to buy another Mosaic again. We'll let the Mosaic fanatics bid each other up. Personally, I believe everything will eventually be reissued with superior mastering. I'm more than happy with the sonically superior single sessions.
  11. Crap, I just had some mini-doughnuts this morning before reading this thread. My favorite would be Tim Horton's. I buy them for my bank branches a lot. Sometimes I get so busy at work that my first meal of the day comes in the evening. I did that two days in a row this week. After that, doughnuts look real tasty, I can assure you...
  12. The set has been sold. Special thanks to the three people who responded.
  13. I think the music is terrific. I'm going back to purchasing the individual sessions. "How Insensitive" is still available on JRVG and "The Phantom" is about to be reissued. I've still got my Rare Groove of "I Don't Care Who Knows It," and I never cared for "Merry Ole Soul," so I won't pick that one up again. I'll just be missing "It Could Only Happen With You." I don't like the Mosaic format much at all; and as mentioned in a Mosaic thread, I am one of the few people who prefer to buy the individual sessions than own them in Mosaic format. You just can't beat the sound of JRVG in my opinion. Still up for bids...
  14. I'll let it go for a little less than retail. I've played the set a few times, but not much. Shoot me an offer...
  15. Good news all around for me on these reissues. I'll pass on the Horace Silver and on "Easterly Winds." I've got the JRVG of the latter and am always happy with JRVG sonics. Sad about missing on Booker. I love his stuff. Hill would be a good substitute, nevertheless. Overall, a good batch, I think.
  16. We should re-title this as the "Jamaica and Johnny E" thread... B)
  17. One percent of the Jamaican population is Chinese. They came over between 1860 and 1890 as indentured servants. Then there was an additional wave of immigrants during World War I to work in agriculture. Sources: History of the British West Indies, by Sir Alan Burns and Class, State, and Democracy in Jamaica, by Carl Stone. I've got good sources...
  18. Sorry Chris. You're right on that. And everyone knows this board can't afford to lose another non-leftist! Will see if I can post more down the road. Little time right now. (I can't bear to glance over to the politics section. Johnny must be running amok without my firm and reasoned counseling.)
  19. You're right, Brad. You didn't deserve a negative for that. Oh well...suck it up, I guess. -_-
  20. I'm afraid I don't know, but I could do a little research on it. Will get back to you on that if I find anything...
  21. She must have been a cool Mom since you're the cool guy you are. Sorry to hear the news... Paul
  22. I was trying to think up a smart assed answer but just voted a simple "no." I work at a bank and robberies are no fun. I don't handle cash but work in the investments department. Last week, I was still talking to some clients after the last bank employee left for the evening. Suddenly, I realized that I was all alone with these clients in this quiet and dark bank. I told them that I was concerned about security issues and suggested we all clear out before we became the focus of all down-and-out robbers in the vicinity. It was kind of scary...
  23. Happy Birthday to my favorite living guitarist!!
  24. You definitely need thick skin dealing with Underground... Al is my pal. Just kidding! Hey Brad, What the heck you going on vacation with ebay auctions pending? The buyer may have been a bit quick to post a negative feedback, but as a buyer, I expect the seller to send the item soon after receiving my payment. You have no choice now but to live with the negative feedback. I certainly would be bothered if I got one. Al doesn't mind them; he's got a ton of em.
