  1. I don't like dishonesty in people. Let me see what else... fake and arrogant people: weren't these already mentioned? This is a negative subject. I'm gonna start something else...
  2. Really enjoyed seeing how I'm an idiot! That was fun. Only saw 3 of course!
  3. I didn't vote because they all belong in the Jazz Hall of Fame.
  4. This is what I would prefer doing over the weekend. Oh well...
  5. I'm heading off to Columbus today to spend the weekend and play in the Ohio Chess Team Championship. Will return late Sunday. I'm gonna "retire" for awhile after this tournament. I'm getting tired of them and I've got to focus on my new job. If this were an individual event, I would cancel it, but I'm playing for a team so I can't let the guys down. Toledo is sending three teams. I'm team captain on the first team. B) All in all, would prefer to relax and stay at home, but we'll do our best! Happy weekend everyone...
  6. Sorry to hear the news. It must be traumatic to hit a deer. I ran over a squirrel once a few months ago and I thought about if for a long time afterwards. Our cars are death machines.
  7. I'm a huge fan of "Groove's" music, but I found this one weaker than many of his other sessions. The recording quality is pretty good for a live date, so that's not a problem. It's hard to describe what bothers me about it, but I do think it's worth keeping, nevertheless. I'd rate it 3 stars.
  8. Missed that one the first time around. Here's a belated...
  9. You won't go above $71? I bought mine for $100 on ebay. I don't think it's possible to get it much cheaper than that, though the "Buy-it-now" was $90 or something like that. I think I paid around $96 and it came to a little over $100 with shipping costs. Jacknife won't care too much if it goes for $100. He just sold Lee Morgan, "Rajah" for $75.00 on a buy it now. (You lucky rascal! ) Right Knife?
  10. Sheez, I can't count them. I don't have my cds alphabetized. Probably Miles, Coltrane, Blakey, would lead the pack. Lots of artists with a dozen or more titles. Would be easier to count everything. I think I've got around 700 cds. This is probably considered a small collection by most folks on this board, but I love every one of those cds! Also, I only own "jazz" stuff. No pop or classical.
  11. if not, Get it!! This is a great cd! I found it in an Ann Arbor shop and it blew me away. The fourth track, "Duffin Round" commands you to get up and shake. Ever heard this one, Organissimo? Add it to your repertoire.
  12. Probably would be a good idea to clean out my car. I've had the same cds in there subject to extreme temperature changes for at least a year. I should be changing the cds on a daily basis and not leaving them out there.
  13. ... and the follow-up from Jim Dye: I do recall these posts. Great words, Jim.
  14. I'd imagine that you could fill up this thread with JSangry's posts alone. I'm not very good at saving stuff or being able to locate quotes, so sadly I cannot add anything here.
  15. I voted for "Peckin Time," but the only other one I own is "Mobley and His All Stars." Never heard any of the others.
  16. Good boy. You won't be sorry.
  17. Hank made consistently good sessions with BN. Hard to pick one over the others. If I were pressed for a favorite, I would choose "Hi Voltage." I like the lineup on it as well. Damn, they're all good.
  18. I used to check in all the time. Now I can visit only in the evenings and on weekends.
  19. Don't forget that Charles Lloyd played recently as well, though I missed him. At least, I never miss any of Organissimo's visits.
  20. Unlikely, Chuck. I've got to sit down with people. Can't do that in India... yet!
  21. I think you would be a terrific representative for the museum. Jazz knowlege is one thing, but you've also displayed a superior ability to relate to others, Rooster, and that should take you far in any endeavor. There might be some reverse discrimination going on, but it wouldn't hurt to try anyway. I would imagine that you would be very patient with kids. People are most effective when they love their jobs. I think you would do just fine.
  22. That would be great, Jim. I'm scheduled to be in the Ypsilanti branch every Wednesday. I'm "on call" at the Ann Arbor in-store branch, so no set schedule there. Let me know when you will be in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area.
  23. Well, here's a couple of tips for you, Greg... Wazoo's got a used copy of Art Blakey, "Free For All" for $8.99. Encore's got Donald Byrd, "Fuego" for $14. I was just there a couple days ago.
  24. I don't think it's a good idea to lend out cds or books. People can grow attached to them awfully quickly. Of course, you can loan with the idea of giving them away. Might as well have that attitude if you do lend them out.
  25. He never showed. Great news! I kinda predicted that (see above previous post.) You weren't feverish in anticipation of trouble were you, Sun? That means he got to you more than he should have. Anyway, glad it worked out.
