  1. $11 postage paid to USA/Canada. No pee-pal. Will accept any kind of payment other than cowrie shells.
  2. I don't know but Grey and Weizy probably have them all in duplicate.
  3. I say feel free to post your thoughts on jazz, Eric. If I find it interesting, I'll stick around and add a post or two (if anyone leaves an opening where I can blast em! ) If I find the discussion impenetrable, then I move on. I'm pretty sure Chuck is okay with it. He's just cranky.
  4. My wife is pretty tolerant. She likes some tunes; dislikes others. She comps on her piano a lot and there is no refuge in the house for me once she sets in on it. Basically, I allow her to comp on her piano with muted complaints while she allows me to play jazz without complaining. It's a workable arrangement. I tease her good naturedly: "How come you can't play like this guy (Horace Parlan) when he's only got three working fingers on his left hand?"
  5. That's only because you don't listen to organ jazz, Weizy!
  6. I believe I understand where you and Chris are coming from as well. It's too easy to quickly dismiss people. DEEP shows flashes of brilliance and tremendous humor. As Maren said, he's a real Jekyll and Hyde. Some of us preferred to focus on the Jekyll side (myself included.) In the end, Mr. Hyde seemed to have overwhelmed the good doctor Jekyll.
  7. Eventually, we'll return back to periodic bleedings to improve our health. I'd imagine letting loose some maggots might lead to unbearable itching/tickling. Hey, I'm game to try it!
  8. I love this cd even though I'm not big on jazz vocals. Trane plays beautifully, and Hartman sings with great sensitivity. These guys were on the same page for sure. Some effort went into this.
  9. I guess. Doesn't hurt to be speci-frick.
  10. Yeah Moose, this one is destined to rival DEEP's thread for longevity! I think it was those green rings, you mentioned....
  11. Jeez, I hope you don't think I was talking about you because I wasn't. I haven't followed DEEP's exploits here. I saw this thread and wondered what had happened THIS time. Turns out it's just the usual Then may I suggest that you actually read a few of the threads before coming up with those sweeping generalizations? Example: "How ironic that DEEP's chief apologists have washed their hands of him after he went after them personally." I certainly did defend DEEP's right to participate in this forum; however, I am no apologist for him. I even enjoyed some of his posts. I did wash my hands of him, but he never went after me personally. I saw him go after others with a vengeance. I saw the ugly side taking complete control.
  12. Not sure what you mean, Chuck. I deleted my post before I read yours. Originally, I said that Braxton's prose is pretty thick and it wouldn't be easy to get through a book if written in that way. Then I went back to the Braxton interview and felt I was beginning to understand some of it--but only beginning to. Really advanced abstract thought. It would be like me explaining a chess position in wholly abstract terms. Tough for the layman. I know a lot about many subjects, but this kind of talk goes over my head. I just happen to enjoy jazz and although I do some thinking about it, I'm not a musician and I can only go so deep. I bet Jim Sangry can understand Braxton's concepts.
  13. I picked up a cold in the last couple of days. I feel so miserable....
  14. You're assuming that most people made it that far into the post. Give us more credit than that, will you? That's the sort of post one smells rather than reads. Kind of like when you pull some long forgotten weirdness out of your fridge. Soon as you open it, you know its something nasty. No need to find out what exactly, just make for the dumpster. --eric Looks like the rat in your avatar has found something nasty, Eric. mouse?
  15. The mystery is no mystery. This was the post to which I made reference. It stood unobjected to. Was I being thin-skinned?? Perhaps not, Patty. Truth is that I have the tendency to speed read through a lot of these posts and I miss all the good stuff!
  16. I had some fun with DEEP, but he got too crude and repetitive and abusive for me. When will some people learn that a little bit of something can be very funny, while too much of it becomes repugnant? I don't go to other chat boards, but if I ever come across DEEP again, I will treat him as friendly as I always did. I don't have anything against the guy. He never insulted me. I also believe that he more than wore out his welcome here, and he was really rude to B-3er and Use and Christiern. Those last few posts of his were really childish; and the worst crime of all: they weren't funny. GROPE: you won't have much fun if you follow DEEP around. He'll be banned everywhere.
  17. I'm pretty sure it was the third word in Mr. Carlin's list. Sorry Dan, I'm not privy to Mr. Carlin's list, but you know, I can use my imagination and figure it out anyway! No more hints folks. Let's drop the issue.
  18. I still haven't figured out the "C" word yet, but perhaps I really don't want to know...
  19. Are you one of those who are following him around, Tod?
  20. I'll be pulling for you Brother!! Analyzed my games from last Saturday and saw some serious errors on my part. My opponents just weren't good enough to take advantage of them, but this does confirm that I was not playing my best at all. One tournament every two months is just not enough practice. I came into Saturday's games very nervous and a bit rusty. I think it showed. When it counted though, I came through. For what it's worth: When I was younger, I went by the motto that "Chess is the search for truth." Now with my return to tournament play, I now follow Lasker's dicturm: "Chess is a struggle!" That latter philosophy is much more practical. It does make a difference in one's attitude, by the way. I was in serious time pressure all three games. That led to some errors. I was also unfamiliar with two of the openings; so I've got to cut myself a little slack. You can't play perfectly when the time control is quick (game/105 minutes) and you are in unfamiliar territory. I will play better next time. Does Linares start today?
  21. DEEP had to go. Way too much abuse and disrespect for others. Patty is a valuable poster. I think GROPE can be reasonable. Hope he sticks around. Good job, B-3er and sorry you and Use had to take so much abuse. No one deserves that. He was just too much of a dividing force. And the humor really got STALE.
  22. I like it a lot as well. Your friend has done WHAT with that green felt pen, Moose?
  23. Let's highlight this simple truth for those who aren't getting it. DUH!!
  24. I am utterly convinced that Deus and Couw are the same person and that they have silly-self conversations...
