  3. They have the series on Netflix, I'll have to check it out. It's kind of fun, if predictable. I enjoyed it.

  5. I just got into this site myself. Since I don't have a TV (and don't have any desire to get one any time soon), if it isn't here, I probably won't see it. Watched the first three episodes of Legend of the Seeker, a live action fantasy show. Think Xena without the humor. Hmmm...not much of a recommendation, is it?
  6. So you can basically call Jim a liar, but then flare up about personal attacks? Amazing.

  8. I hear he uses steroids...
  9. The version I saw was the 1970s one--ironically enough, the one episode I remember distinctly is the Alamo...and it's the one on YouTube! (Intro/outro only, unfortunately). I missed the seventies version; I was more familiar with the earlier version, not from TV, but from the films distributed to schools. At least in the school systems I attended, it was the only decent (and interesting) teaching of history ever attempted.

  12. Anybody familiar with this? At that price, I'm sure it's a crappy turntable, but it sure would be convenient since it looks like "that day when I can afford the system I really want" will probably occur about three decades after I die...

  15. Hey, I prefer my stupidity straight with no apologies, but the Weekly World News is history; whatcha gonna do?
  16. I'm afraid the personal upheavals of the past couple of years have driven me back into my youth as far as music goes; I'm more likely to be listening to seventies post-punk, or eighties (dare I say it) new wave, or even sixties rock than I am jazz. I feel like I'm here under false pretenses anymore...
  17. I'm not sure I would have admitted that about My Mother, the Car... Unfortunately, I remember the school yard parodies more than the actual thing from back then, like the "it's about time, it's about space, it's about time to slap your face" variety...

  19. Anybody else have fond memories of "You are There"?
  20. Oh, no. Not my child; it had to be the pool!
  21. But if they're wet already... Hot today, but not as hot as predicted.
  22. Yeah, but the parents smiling at the older kid would be even creepier then...
