This man must have been completely bonkers. In one of my few forays in to the world of 'hunting' back in my youth, I went hunting with a friend who managed to wound a raccoon. We tracked the damned thing for half a mile and found it swimming across a wide stretch of water (this was in the south Georgia swamps). Perry went in after it and caught it while waist deep, grabbed it and held it underwater for about five minutes and then brought it up. Big mistake; the animal was (reasonably, I'd say) pissed and quickly gained his freedom and handed Perry a nice set of scratches and cuts. My help? Yelling "you're on your own!". The raccoon didn't seem to need any help anyway...
