  1. There's something very disturbing about that sentence...
  2. Apparently you didn't get the...no, I can't do it!!!
  3. Edward R. Murrow Burt Ward Jay Ward
  4. Well, since my first reaction to your original post on the subject was to wince at the number of hours, with an extra commute inbetween, I can't say that sounds like such a bad development, Dan! I've had jobs where I worked 60-70 hours a week, but I've never managed to pull off that 'two jobs at once' thing, and hope I never have to do so!
  5. I don't. So much for Dan's theory that Chris is the only one who confuses this forum with the political forum...
  6. I've been lucky so far; I'm still getting 36-38 hours a week, although I'm having to work six days to get it. Unemployment in my county is up to 12.9%, so it's not like I can complain about losing that extra day off...
  7. I'm not so confident of that. Yeah, people will still buy homes. And cars, but perhaps not as often. And furniture, but maybe that couch can last another five years. It just seems to me that more and more people in there thirties sound like my grandparents did. Stuffing money in a safe at home because the don't trust the banks, unwilling to make large purchases because 'something' might happen. Mind you, I'm not as convinced as some that this is a bad thing; out of control consumerism just didn't seem that healthy to me.
  8. Darn it, that's what I meant!
  9. So, could you clear up the argument from that other thread, Tommy? It's 876-5309, right?
  10. Montgomery Burns Montgomery Cliff Monte Hall
  11. I wouldn't go as far as ridiculous mismatch, but I probably wouldn't buy it until Shrdlu did. But then, I confess to not being that big on most jazz guitarists anyway.
  12. Eddie Valiant Roger Rabbit Jessica Rabbit
  13. No way!!! You made that up, didn't you? I hereby officially withdraw my shock, now that we know Margarito probably beat the shit out of Cotto by having his gloves packed with plaster of paris... One year suspension my ass.
  14. I don't like eggs. Don't tell my wife. T. S. Eliot I would not, could not, in a box. I could not, would not, with a fox. I will not eat them with a mouse. I will not eat them in a house. I will not eat them here or there. I will not eat them anywhere. I do not eat green eggs and ham. I do not like them, Sam-I-am. I mean, if you're going to quote the classics, quote the classics!
  15. It was nice to see someone thumb their nose at the "you have to Americanize your name to make it" bigwigs and still become a star.
  16. Wow...your vet is a cat psychiatrist? Yeah, he also said that the cat wasn't able to really connect with her kittens because she had an emotionally unavailable father. It all worked out OK, though. With twice-a-week therapy sessions for a few years, kitty finally had a breakthrough and realized that it wasn't her fault. Now we're working on the mild depression. Kitty seems to just sleep all day, so Doc has her on Zoloft. Um...I mean I'm glad it all worked out!
  17. Rip Taylor Rip Torn Minnie Ripperton
  18. I'll add a few from a period neglected so far on the thread, but I agree with a lot of the names already mentioned. But NOT Ronnie James Dio. Ozzie is the man; accept no substitutes!! Kate Bush Richard Butler David Byrne Jaz Coleman Julian Cope Ian Curtis Debora Iyall Lene Lovich Ian McCulloch Morrissey Siouxsue Sioux Bernard Sumner Well, that's enough to for most of you to find one of the three responses ("who?", "Oh, that shit.", or "holy crap; and you're on a jazz board?").
  19. So Yes, We Have No Bananas is still a possibility!
  20. That's it; move it to the political forum!
  21. Wow...your vet is a cat psychiatrist?
  22. We've been lied to about marijuana so often and for so long, that I have a hard time believing this. Maybe it's true, but I have to admit, my initial reaction is "yeah, right."
  23. My parents have used a vinegar/water mix on their floors and had good results. I'm not sure what the ratio is; I'll try to remember to ask.
  24. Ah. Thanks. I must admit, I've gotten so far away from sports over the last fifteen years, I couldn't name a manager or a coach in any sport at this point. Well, I'd gamble and say Sutter in the NHL; that's usually a safe bet...
