Just another example of what a great deal privitization is for the consumer and how those who support it either don't give a rat's ass about people or are too greedy to see the big picture. It amazes me how some people can talk about how inefficient government is and how privitization is always the answer. Okay, okay; I'll shut up and go to the politics forum...

Hmm. Okay. My favorites of recent vintage are Greg Bear (although he has some clunkers, his best is like Arthur C Clarke only even more out there) and Allen Steele. Ignore the "he's just like Heinlein" blurbs on the Steele books; he's not. He combines the hard SF of Clement (although pretty much only in human terms) with good characterization and subplots.
