  12. I've read the books many times; last time was just a couple of months ago. Love the tapes I have of the radio show (about six hours worth, if I remember right), but prefer the books. I'm afraid the movie would come in a very distant third, and really, as much as I enjoy(ed) the books, it's not that big of a deal. I mean, we ain't talking Faulkner here, ya know...
  13. Picked up three LPs today in a store in San Juan Bautista today, while the wife was buying crystal (no, the glass stuff, dummy!) and such. Found Bobby Hutcherson's Waiting, Eddie Condon's Jammin' at Condon's, and Art Hodes All Star Stompers. To be honest, I'm not at all familiar with Hodes, other than what I've read here, but the jacket was just so damned cool looking I had to have it. Let's call it an educational buy...

  16. Wow..I was into Petty from the first LP. Don't laugh, but the classic for me was Charlie Parker. Crazy ass noodlin' shit! (Of course that was before I was bit by the jazz bug, which occured in part from listening to a Charlie Parker CD I was given years ago... )
