I picked up Absalom, Absalom yesterday, but chickened out and grabbed Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintainence instead. Just don't ask me why they were next to each other on the shelf...
I think they were talking about the January and March issues of Lesbian Monthly; it came as quite a shock to the fiance, but as he said in the interview, "Hell, I'll give it a go."
