  1. From the ECM site: DeJohnette/Scofield/Goldings Trio Beyond A joyful salute from one great drummer to another, as Jack DeJohnette pays tribute to the life, work and memory of Tony Williams, the man he replaced, in 1969, in the Miles Davis group. Repertoire played by the trio of DeJohnette, Scofield and Goldings includes compositions by John Coltrane, Joe Henderson, Larry Young and John McLaughlin, as well as Williams himself. These pieces were all stepping stones in Williams’ musical development during his tenure with Miles and afterwards, and the drums-organ-guitar line-up of the band heard here – in a tempestuous live recording from London – echoes that of the seminally important Tony Williams Lifetime. ECM 1972/73 Release date: June 9th.
  2. I think you should know all the scales in all the positions.
  3. more fiber for everybody!
  4. I'm not looking at ripping Chris. I just don't understand his brother.
  5. What Joe G said. I started checking Freedom Jazz Dance lately and I can almost play the head. All I had to do was shift around a bit. Doh! Why didn't I think of that before?
  6. I'll have to check that one out.
  7. Yeah, but he's acting in that. I think Spicoli is stoned. Just a hunch...
  8. Same here. Has anyone ever seen him smile? He always looks pissed off.
  9. Holy frickin crap. I never knew!
  10. I hear Dan was thinking of going to see it.
  11. I finally went for a pair of these, and I couldn't be happier with them. 15db is just about right for onstage. I feel like I can hear everything more clearly, and the sound level is just about right. Loud enough that I don't feel disconnected from the music, and quiet enough that I don't flinch when Randy does those end-of-song bash-outs on his china crash. And those Keith Moon freakouts where he destroys his drum set can be a bit loud too. Ear plugs are something I should look into. 4-5 hour gigs with the dance company are a bit much on the ears. Even an hour or so on my own is a drain.
  12. rain, rain. please go away. don't come back another day.
  13. Got that. Can't find it.
  14. I like the vintage side of things better, but I should really stay home and play guitar. Still...I get tempted to go on guitar safari and hit a lot of shops in one day.
  15. Yeah...oh well. I always heard of Shawn Lane, not I know why I couldn't be bothered to check him out. Too bad he never made the leap into playing Jazz. I know he did work with some South Indian Classical musicans, I hope his guitar sounded a bit more...uh...normal for that gig. RIP SL. This reminds me that NAMM is in session this weekend. I haven't been there in a few years, NAMM is like a full time Guitar Center 24/7. Interesting for a visit, makes me glad I'm not in the music business full time.
  16. Holy crap. Meaning, you like, or dislike? I honestly heard lots of notes, but not much music. Lots of distortion and reverb but not much tone.
  17. I have Comcast and it ain't happening here in NJ. Even if I didn't have Comcast I could tell you it ain't happening here in NJ.
  18. Sounds like good news to me. I always liked their playing, even if Mike was a bit comercial at times. Get well soon Mike Brecker.
  19. I hate to break it to you, but no one will be seeing pictures of Jim in his underwear on this Board if I can help it! Promise?
  20. Holy crap! I sure hope it stops raining. The closest I've come to that is when the fool living above me was watering his plants. And he didn't have anything under the pots to catch the run-through which dripped through the floor onto my CD collection. I'm glad I was home so I could move the CDs damm quick.
  21. At least it isn't snow.
  22. Might be local. My connection is fine. Call them!
  23. Ah...da shore. I grew up in North Brunswick and have been living in scenic Rahway for 13 years (it's better than you think!). Check this out folks, I was lookin' at Mikes posts and dig this: he talks to the Dead. Really! Like regularly too. We have our favorte organ trio here, a bunch of other musicans, fans, writers & critics, but he talks to the Dead. Too cool. All in jest, just kiddin', couldn't resist, have a good one!
  24. Happy Birthday from New Jersey, Vajerzy!
