  1. I think is was initially a download-only thing, it only shipped, like, last week? It's a really good record.

  3. Digital as in CD? Cause, yeah. https://www.amazon.com/Frescalato-KONITZ-LEE/dp/B01MSUCT1I/ref=sr_1_1_twi_aud_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1490626646&sr=1-1&keywords=lee+konitz+frescalalto
  4. Kenny Barron in FINE form, Washingtons Peter & Kenny have a good swing for Lee, and Lee himself is Lee Of Today, obviously old, obviously cranky, and just as obviously playing in that flow of his (and scatting like a Konitizian Louis Armstrong, some might recoil, not me, I mean c'mon Lee Konitz SINGS, warble and all, can't be all THAT cranky!). It's beautiful humanity, fine music, and probably available for a limited time, this being 2017 and all. Gotta love Lee Konitz unless you don't, but if you do, here is the love.
  5. Roy was Roy no matter the setting. He was a force of nature (as was Jo Jones). Hopefully you have the Mosaic? It's a treasure chest.
  6. Rod Stasick is there as we speak. Sounds like him and Sharon are really enjoying both the music and the town. Pretty sure he'll see this when they get back.

  10. nobody gives him enough - or any - credit for mastering the left-handed tenor. That's even more of a bitch than the Albert clarinet.
  11. Sounds like he might have struggles with his sobriety identity!
  12. yes, thanks.

  14. My translation engine puts it at, roughly, On an off day, not thinking about being king of the world, Pele passes the day listening to records and talking ideas like any other young man of his age.
  15. I don't speak Portuguese (or Spanish), but there's enough of an overlap that I can reasonably suspect that it says King Pele, the new star of Brasil. Edson Arantes do Nascimento, of course, was his birth name. Mendes...have not hear the Pele album, but the New Brasil 77 one is kinda cool in a "crate digger" kind of way. It's got some real dogs and some real gems, and/but also overflowing with "period electronics", but the gems are truly gems, including this one by Clifford Coulter, who did a few sides for impulse! back in the day. But if you miss Lani Hall, you're not alone.
  16. And you could be right. Like I said, it's been a while.
  17. Tom Thumb Colonel Tom Piper Laurie
