  1. Peter Nero is an excellent musician, as was Oscar Peterson. But Errol Garner, how do you not like Errol Garner? Or Erle Stanley Gardner for that matter, I mean, c'mon!
  2. How does anybody not like Errol Garner?
  3. In breasts or in camera angles? Or in camera angles for breasts? Stan Kenton if you're old enough. Maybe even the most controversial. Can't we all just get along? Uniter, not a divider!
  4. Now I'm confused. The one guy makes it sounds like it's all complaints, but maybe not? Either way, I'm still kind of put off by him from when he came to NT and did a clinic where he very matter-of-factly told the assembled audience that we should, should, pay attention to him because he was the only - only - new thing that happened to vibes since Milt Jackson. I didn't go home and burn my copy of Crystal Silence or anything crazy like that, I mean, the guy can play and is no bullshit in that way, just filed him away as one of those guys who when I want to hear what he has to say - when - I'll play a record and let it go - go - at that.
  5. What's wrong with Peter Nero? I don't see why it has to be either one or the other.
  6. So, he has a baseline for what he complains about then, right? That's good to know!
  7. Please mom and dad, let's not fuss, let's find some common ground and build on that, please.
  8. Is he that much of a pissy little bitch for the entire book, or are you just giving us the highlights?
  9. Because everybody has to be convinced of something at some point?
  10. Let's talk about doing all that at the same time, all that and then some.
  11. I don't think that's Ben Sidran. I think that's Kevin Spacey.
  12. A Hankerchirp!

  14. Big fun listening to this one!
  15. Anybody know if Ron McClure took over PC's gig or was just subbing? If it was the former, who took McClure's place when he left to take Cecil McBee's place with Charles Lloyd? Or was that the end of The Wynton Kelley Trio as a regular traveling band? Or just what and who, exactly, please?
  16. I bet it was her brain that exploded and she just used the headphones as an excuse.
  17. This is my go-to guy, pick a RPM.
  18. I only know of one Sheldon comedy album, a stand-up thing on Capitol. Is this cut (which I did find funny) off a Sheldon album, or does he appear as part of a comedic ensemble? Or is this a music record with comedic interludes? Ah! Found it! https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/music/album/jack-sheldon/live-at-don-mupos-gold-nugget/8d6kgx552z0l/rovi-review I had no idea this existed. Cool!
  19. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/14/sports/ed-whitlock-dead-masters-marathon-record-setter.html The British-born Mr. Whitlock trained in a cemetery near his home in Milton, Ontario, outside Toronto, running laps for three hours or more at a time in his shuffling style. He had no coach, followed no special diet, did no stretching except on the morning of a race, got no massages and took no medication, except for a supplement for his knees. The training itself was drudgery, Mr. Whitlock said, and he did not run for his health. He simply enjoyed setting records and getting attention. And those records forced scientists and fellow runners to reassess the possibilities of aging and performance. “His performances were so far out there beyond what anyone has done or could imagine,” said Amby Burfoot, the winner of the 1968 Boston Marathon and a longtime editor at Runner’s World magazine. “We worshiped him as a god even though he had no interest in being a god,” Mr. Burfoot said.
  20. Solo films...I have a couple that come to mind right away as being worth watching...not as coherent films, but as collections of some really funny physical comedy bits. Who's Minding the Store The Sad Sack The Bellboy Cinderfella The Patsy The Disorderly Orderly And of course, Nutty Professor, which actually has both a premise and a plot. The others are mostly just premise to hang the gags on, but when the gags are as elaborate and as well-played as some of these are, it's ok. Still waiting for The Day The Clown Cried. Seriously.
  21. I have one of "Miss Ann's Tempo" that I played at 33 1/3 one time and didn't notice. it grooved that hard.
  22. Is this good news?
