  1. The Japanese CD of the single album is $13.99 @ da' Bastids: http://www.dustygroove.com/item/683898 Also, Amazon has some used copies of that 3-CD set for under $30.00,
  2. Milo O'Shay Venus de Milo Captain Allan Piper
  3. Hell, you guys are the torchbearers at this point!
  4. Edited the title to better reflect the current reality.
  5. Did not know of that one!
  6. Boarders Tennants Homeowners
  7. I'm in no matter what, but are your compositions through-composed?
  8. Worrell's been the type of guy I appreciate (deeply) in the aggregate, not so much as a "soloist" but as a musician, somebody who can always bring something to the table that will leave it better than it would have been otherwise. I'd call him a "parts player" if that didn't have such an air of dismissal, the guy is not to be dismissed, never, or even a little. But I don't know how much of a "need" I have to hear him on a solo date like this. I can be convinced, though, so if y'all get it and really feel it, please, speak up!
  9. That was a long time ago(!), but, thanks, and it's still how I feel about that record.
  10. Go & Our Man In Paris are Desert Island Dexter For me. One Flight Up & A Swingin' Affair I could live without if forced to. Dexter Calling & Doin' Alright...not Desert Island, but still dandy. But those first two, those records ARE Dexter Gordon afaic. Even if there wasn't more before or after (and there is).
  11. Same group that will be in Austin on Sunday, correct? For that matter, where is the Austin gig? Is it still on? Yes, it's the same group, but I don't know any details about the Austin gig. So I guess they're playing Austin, coming up to Dallas, and then coming all the way back down to Houston in 3 days! They'll be in Buffalo on 3/27 http://www.hallwalls.org/music/5453.html & Philly on 3/29 http://www.arsnovaworkshop.com/events/bradford-gjerstad-quartet-03-29-2014
  12. Here's a nice set of podcasts aimed squarely at the theme of this thread: http://www.wwfm.org/webcasts_halfpast.shtml Playlists available as well.
  13. To interrupt - One of Illinois Senator Charles Percy's daughters was murdered in 1966, Richard Speck murdered eight nurses in Chicago around the same time. Thanks for clarifying that. I knew hter was a connection in my mind between Percy & those murders, wasn't sure what it was, exactly. Luddite Dolemite Betty White
  14. Between Interstates and/or Southwest, hey, road band, old school! I'm otherwise obligated on Monday, so the Sunday Austin gig is the one I want/need to make, but...no listings online anywhere. Maybe it fell through? Hope not. Also, just found out the program for the UNT/Truesdell/Gil thing: Fist Set: The complete Miles Ahead Album Second Set: Selections from "New Bottle, Old WIne" That's some hella good writing to hear for $8.00. 5PM is starting to look ok enough.
  15. I use EDS for CD Japan, and things usually get to the DFW area in 5-7 days. Seems like the best balance between cost and efficiency for me.
  16. Same group that will be in Austin on Sunday, correct? For that matter, where is the Austin gig? Is it still on?
  17. And she does Latin-Jazz as well!
  18. Oh, really?! Remember that pseudo outrage? BTW, Teri Nunn still looks fantastic. Old formerly famous people are ugly unless they stay famous. This is not opinion, it is science, science and research, well-funded research. You can argue science if you want to, but not when science has all the money. Get as old as you want or as famous as you want, but if you can't do both the camera will one day be a gun, and you will be in its sights. Opening Day tickets are on sale now.
  19. From 1971, Jazz & Pop Magazine
  20. No no no! Wouldn't dream of it!
  21. Which one is his signature hand?
  22. You know, you keep finding a bunch of good deals for music online, stuff you need to have for moral/archival/curiosity reasons, so you gotta carpe diem, but no rush, get the cheapest postage offered, and then you let a couple days go by and you're all, no mail today, huh? hope nothings gotten lost, and then there's a 3-Day Weekend and then on the fourth day EVERYTHING shows up at once and you're all, holy shit, that's a lot of stuff I just bought all at once, and THEN it dawns on you that you've been doing the same thing for the last few days as well, but thank god for no more 3-Day weekends, right? Blows successfully staggered going forth, but watch out for that Memorial Day now, that'll be here before you know it, so plan ahead AND accordingly. Don't tell me this hasn't happened to you!
  23. Franz Jackson Percy France Former Senator Charles Percy (didn't he kill all those Chicagoland nurses, or wasn't he just on the news at roughly the same time?)
  24. Finished House Of Cards Season Two. The ending was predictable, but one helluva ride up until then. Here's hoping they quit while they're ahead, because right now they are very ahead.
