  1. Cher and some dude!
  2. The unmistakable Vivian Vance!
  3. I think you could make a case that both Joe Meek & Phil Spector were "avant-garde" in that both viewed "natural sound" as raw materials to be broken and bent at will to be twisted into something wholly "unnatural" - which then became a "new natural" - instead of as ends unto themselves. The tools being used were definitely basic, commercial in the extreme, at times even crap. But the methodology at work and the esthetic at play was very much "avant-garde", especially in 1960s terms. Just my opinion.
  4. Didn't John Ritter & Lucille Ball have a mutual admiration society based on the other's ability to do physical comedy? I was kind of taken aback when I heard that, b/c Three's Company always exemplified to me the worst tendencies of TV sitcommage. But upon further review...it still does, pretty much. But there's no denying the "ensemble chemistry" and the truly expert physical comedy either.
  5. I went out of my way to avoid that album back in the day just because of the cover: Sounds like the guy can play, though.
  6. I'm guessing it's this:
  7. Same image, different source:
  8. That's why you sell the ringtones. Pure profit, almost.
  9. Yeah, Ashley Kahn is not who I want to read about this music. Definitely not. Some good in-depth commentary by Marcus Miller about the tracks he worked on would have been nice, though.
  10. Looks like the collaboration with Prince and a compilation of already-released guest shots/cameos Miles did on various albums of the time. I'd really have to go with Dingo for that dubious distinction. That one actually pissed me off.
  11. Money well spent!
  12. I keep coming back to Amandala and find that it gets a little better each time (and I liked it fine from jump). Same with Siesta. Tutu, I need as an LP, because the first side is classic, the second side filler. Dingo & the live stuff with Quincy are pretty much useless to me. Doo-Bop, I've bought but have never listened to except for when cuts would get played on the radio, where they were pleasing enough. I'm not so sure but that I should leave well enough alone. That 5th disc looks interesting from a completionary standpoint, although I doubt there's anything really meaty there. The cut with Shirley is one with which I'm well familiar and...that might be the weakest cut on an otherwise outstanding album. $52.87 seems a little bit more than I want to pay for this.
  13. I'm serious about the ringtones btw.
  14. Round cylendericals opposite each other!

  16. Amazon shipping notice was waiting for me this morning.
  17. Not at all, because that "certain point" is where you can grow to understand how to love somebody who does things you don't understand, much less agree with. Believe me, kids will do that to you in a big way...
