  5. I've had those Red Sox games in mind pretty much all season long (and taking Toot Toot Priity Kritty Toot Toot to the one this coming Tuesday to celebrate her 21st b-day)...which is why I'm not even slightly beginning to relax with a 6-7 game lead. Quite the opposite, in fact.
  6. Yeah, that Atlanta's one Tough Texas Town, let me tell you...Don Henley's from there you know, so....yeah.
  7. Maiden Voyage, if you want to allow for George Coleman instead of Wayne.
  8. DAMN! I thought you guys were coming here http://www.atlantatexas.org/ Guess not, eh?
  9. Agreed on all counts, although my preference of Richards over Rugolo might better be measured in portions of a mile rather than several of them, of only because I have miles to go before I sleep, but not before I nap, and neither Rugolo nor Richards seem to sympathize with that!
  10. YOU got the beat!
  11. Yeah, pay your daughter's tuition and take satisfaction and pride that your creativity paid for her education. Not many people can say that.
  12. Try this one:
  13. It was on Concord, and Concord did not really "push" that type of jazz.
  14. Still working on that myself, I find the whole thing about listerner fatigue and stopping at some point applies for me to his writing as much as it does to the engineering. But that's pretty much subjective all the way around, I suppose. Indirectly speaking of Kenton-related bombast, have you ever checked out the album that Bill Mathieu did for Kenton? Standards In Silhouette, I think it's called. That's bombast that works for me, just because its not relentless. That, and Mathieu really tells stories with the loudness instead of using a lot of devices, which is still mostly how I hear Richards. Maybe Richards was telling stories too, I just can't get to them.

  16. Kiss her goodbye indeed, while there's still time!
  17. Pi is about the only label releasing new music these days whose promo emails I actually read, as opposed to just skimming. They've doing good, occasionally great, things. Long may they wave.
  18. They've kinda been "in the air" for decades now, at least in my world, so all I can say is that they are what they are - fine playing presented in a more "commercial" setting than on the Riversides, but not nearly as much as on the A&M stuff. The arrangements are all well done, but are definitely there to make the music more "accessible".
  19. Come with you? Hell. I'd give you directions!
  20. good in what kind of way?
  21. Lydia's boy looks like John Cleese? I gotta get out more! Or not!
  22. I guess what I believe in is that I saw it when and how it was legitimately offered throught the terms of my cable agreement, so since I really don't feel any overwhelming urge to see it again, I'm PIF. Of course, if anybody didn't see it and/or has that overwhelming urge, by all means buy the DVD, don't burn a copy from YouTube, unless you like half-ass video and audio quality, in which case, you'll be getting what you ask for, in more ways than one.
  23. That's the point - I'm afraid many people use these scientific explanations only to avoid the human individual's responsibility for their behavior, like "It's my DNA (or whatever) doing this, there's nothing I can't help it". We are much more than cells, that's one of the few things I'm really sure about. And the more humankind evolves, the more responsibility it has to take. A reason is not an excuse. Nothing makes it "ok", and people do have to accept responsibilities for their actions. That never needs to not be the case. But - it also never needs to be the case that we stop trying to find out they whys/hows/etc.
  24. I'd like to think so, I mean, I paid Time-Warner Cable for both HBO & the DVR, so any money that didn't go to where it needs to is between Time-Warner Cable & HBO, which is really cost center vs cost center.
  25. A few times
