  2. True, but it's my only line.
  3. Were you expecting the Spanish Inquisition?
  4. DAMN dude, what you got on there, hyper-encoded results of government DNA-splicing experiments, or what? No no no no NO way do you have to pay that (unless your HD has totally failed). Find some kid who lives and breathes for this stuff, knows how to do it, give him a good amount of change, maybe a meal & some beers, take his number & send him some referrals, and get your data back sanely and sensibly. Develop the local talent, dig? $1900 my ass... that's some sucker-punch rootypoot bs if ever I've heard any. And I have.
  5. On the jazzcorner site, I think that Billy has a link & you can order CD-Rs directly from him. Other than that...you're looking at Denon & MPS, two labels that don't show up with any regularity here, so I'd be prepared to carpe diem on what I could find where I could find it. I've heard both, and trust me, it'll be money well-spent.

  7. You're in a college town, right? Start asking around and get a rec for a Computer Science geek from a reliable source. My daughter's got a friend who fits that category, and the guy's proven to be a lifesaver more than once. We pay him, but he doesn't ask for much at all (we always add a little something extra, just as a gesture of appreciation), and you don't get all the hype - and possible ineptness - that you can get going to a Geek Squad-type "pro" operation, whose focus just as often as not is on sales, not service.

  12. Listening to this again...good lord...when Sonny plays like this...the glass is just not full, it's overflowing, and nothing is going to waste.
  13. Of course we played it - right away. That's what you do on gigs like that. And he gave us a quiet "thank you" smile while he danced with his wife. After that dance, he snuck outta there for the night. She stayed behind and tended to the bizness at hand. The whole thing just seemed sad somehow...
  14. I once "met" Roger Clemens off-field. I was playing a gig in Houston for a charity event that his wife organized. Roger Clemens & Roger Clemens memorabilia were being pimped out the wazoo in the most aggressive manner imaginable. After an hour-plus of high-energy "party music" and several hours of Clemens-pimping, Roger himself shyly shuffled up to the bandstand, followed at a distance by all types of "fans" and quietly asked if we could play "Amarillo By Morning" when we got a chance. It was in no way a demand. If anything, it seemed like a plea. He seemed like a sad, lonely, maybe even lost man. None of which has anything to do with his use of PED, I'm just saying, at that moment, he was not looking like anybody I in would any way envy for any reason imaginable.

  17. "Bootleg" must just be the title, if it's a Sony Legacy release...

  22. Now I'm curious to hear the 5th Dimension album of the same name...appears to have been a Jimmy Webb concept album with the 5D as vocal executors. One minor hit off of it, "Paper Cup" (which I remember as being really "sunshiny" but also really quirky lyrically), but the album appears to have not done well commercially which could mean anything...,
