  1. Pretty sure I bought one at some point, but now that I want to play it in the car, I can't find it. And no, it's not there. That;'s the first place I looked. As always, thanks in advance!
  2. Well, make sure that bus stops in front of your friendly local music retailer. And when it does, pop inside for a cool refreshing copy of Warne Marsh's All Music on Nessa Records. It's a musical treat that can't be beat, and you'll want to taste it early, long and often. And while you're in there, tell 'em the O-Board sent you. You'll get a free gift wrapping courtesy of Nessa Records (as will your CD!) and be signed up for an Amazon Visa card at no extra charge! Remember, that's Warne, not Wayne, and All Music, not pain. And now m'aam, here's your stop. Enjoy!
  3. I think you enjoy stirring the pot. Disagreement doesn't = hostility in my book, but you seem to feel obligated to diss people who entertain different views than yours. Going forth, please try to display an understanding of the difference between dissing opinions and dissing those who hold them. It is Amazon's responsibility to screen their reviewers for online affiliations before posting their reviews in order to maintain a representative balance pof the online community therein, not mine. That job would best be held by somebody for whom it matters enough to take the time. Apparently there are those who would be interested. Amazon, are you listening?
  4. The "professional music press" is so incestuous that even when "full disclosure" is in place, it hardly ever really is. And I'm not sure that it needs to be either. People have lives and lives cross. To think that something as piddly (in terms of critical legitimacy) as reviews on an online retail site should be treated like "real journalism" and all the implications thereof is really, really anal as far as needing/expecting "control" over what one is exposed to. Cows shit in the pasture, dogs in the grass, birds everywhere. Fact of life, and totally natural. If that's a problem, stay inside.
  5. They don't, not by the time we get done with them.
  6. I'm also wondering why this doesn't apply to piss-poor relief pitchers. You'd think that would be the first place it would apply....
  7. I'm thinking that life is cheap these days, people even cheaper.
  8. Yes, I agree. There is no room for people in the music business, not these days! Because it's BAD to do good, that's why!
  9. :g:g:g:g (it's a running joke in some circles....)
  10. Yeah, "banding together" is a poor choice of words if it's taken to mean a coordinated formal effort. "Spontaneously & independently responded" is then more better, but DAMN that's too much typing....
  11. I don't get this "how come nobody bothered to write a review before now" silliness. I mean, hell, other than a few people who are into it, who the hell has the time and/or inclination to cruise all the freakin' online retailer sites looking for spots to write a review? I know i sure don't. Look - at Chuck's request, I wrote some updated liner notes. Compensation, some copies of the CD. It was a labor of love to do so, and I was heartened by the universally good reviews the release got in the "jazz press". You think I'm going to hover on Amazon for 5-6 years afterwards to make sure that a release that's gotten outstanding reviews in the real press doesn't get sullied on Amazon or any other online retailer? Not then, not now, not ever. For all I knew, everybody who really wanted it already had it, and those who came to it later wouldn't have any reason to be dissuaded. So Chuck posts this here, because, OOPS, guess not! Me and some other people responded, again, as a labor of love. And now there's some people clucking and finger-wagging because...I still don't know why, other than maybe that's what they live for, the opportunity to cluck and finger-wag. Well hey - I got your cluck right HERE, and you can guess what finger I'm wagging right now. People are just so....CHEAP sometimes.

  13. wow... Whole 'nother world there. Not for me, thanks. brrrrrr....
  14. Even if Chuck was implicitly solicing reviews (and I don't think he was), I've got no problem with that, just as I have no problem with any businessperson soliciting support in a troubled/trying market. No body was asked to lie, and nobody did. Honest testimonials were offered. No lies were told by anybody at any point, nor were any truths suppressed. If a banding together of like-minded individuals that creates such a result "upsets" some people, I really have nothing to say except get over it, and maybe develop some character & learn how to be a friend to something and/or somebody. It's not exactly unethical, you know.
  15. No they aren't, and yes it is. Ever eat squirrel brains?
  16. When something sells "only a few copies a year" and is a quality product in every regard, an attempt to boost sales by correcting any possible inaccuracy is, like the work itself, a labor of love, not some Machiavellian manipulation of marketplace machinations. Thos of you who have kids will/should know what I mean. You let them fight their own battles, but when the deck is stacked, you step in to make it right.
  17. Then be BOLD and FLOOD THE NETWAYS with your outrage about this release at EVERY opportunity! I'm sure you've already dissuaded 2-3 people here from buying it (but not me, I really don't buy stuff any more unless I really WANT it, and this I id not that), but if you really want to STEP UP TO SCALE, get outta here and TAKE ON THE WORLD!!!!! DO IT!!! Assuming that you really DO give this much of a damn about it....
  18. To say nothing of just plain stupid!
  19. Make it happen. POST THAT REVIEW!!@!!!!!!! DESTROY DECORUM LIKE IT HAS DESTROYED YOU!!! DESTROYYYYYYYYY IIIIIITTTTT!!!!!!
  20. Welcome back, Eric! Samn Damn, that was quick!
