As I understand it, Garrard was an audiophile/high-end brand until the early 1970's, when they, like many other nameplates, entered the "consumer market".
If the "Autumn Leaves" guy wrote it, AMG doesn't show him as ever recording it: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/roger-williams-p1912/songs/all-songs/track_name-asc/200
I'd wager dollars to donuts that it's not the same guy.
Yeah, Odean grew into a, to put it mildly, much stronger player than he was here, but here he's not quite ready...I wonder if Max was hiring him on a temporary basis, to give him a tatse of the real deal, as a favor to Hassaan, or just what.
I'd like as many decimal places as possible, just for grins...but yeah, I think an ERA of, say, 3.14159 or some such would be totally cool. or a BA of .314159...has it ever been done?
Those Cadet LPs were probably Jimmy Ponder's. Sparks was a Bob Porter/Prestige guy back then, although he later did a few (not so good) things on Westbound, iirc.
Sorry to hear of his passing. He was a true, down-home (for me, anyway) for-real talent.
