Roy wood? For real? That would have been the coolest thing possible of all time as far as it went. Roy Wood is cooler than Asia & any other continent-named band (or incontinent-named band as well) in the history of the world of that type thing. I mean, really, Roy Wood!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSBqDUy5J_Q&feature=related

Another rec for the early ECMs here.
  6. Friends is beautifully, brilliantly tender, naive, and a little wack...like Love You in a lot of only ways, only Brian was still mostly connected to reality & was just looking to chill out. Check out the bass playing on "Busy Doin' Nothing"... nice....very nice...
  7. Thanks for the elaboration. So, he's looping live, recording that, and then...overdubbing the original loops back onto themselves? In sync or out?
  8. These two sources give a catalog # of MG-20550 for the mono issue: http://microgroove.jp/mercury/SR60118.shtml http://www.jazzdisco.org/mercury-records/catalog-20500-series/#mg-20550 No ocver scans available though, so...

  10. No, seriously, is it one guy working with loops or 15 saxophonists? If it's the latter, I'm wondering what the instrumentation is, whether he's going from highest to lowest, focusing in on one range, or just what.. In other words, why 15?

  13. At least serve it fried with gravy.
  14. Let me recommend a combination of canned compressed air and WD-40. Both work splendidly on machines, and the human body is the most magnificent machine of all.
  15. I ordered. But... All I want to get is accurate/relevant technical musical analysis, the more technical the better, but only if it's accurate and relevant to the music being played. It can be a damnably horrible book otherwise and I won't care. But if I don't get what I came for, I will be pissed and never forgive.

    Who Mop Mop?

Don't know where Golden Arm's post went...but the thing about being in an interesting place but never moving beyond it is pretty accurate. Still, I'm always happy to find out that these dead-end but interesting places exist...elements can be moved on to a more major thoroughfare at some point.

  22. Here's the author. He wants to know why you would even have any doubts. Seriously, let us know how it is. Sounds like the guy has a solid background to be doing musical analysis: http://music.colorado.edu/faculty/keith-waters/ but I want to have it confirmed before I spend my money on anotehr book.
