I kinda think I liked it better when you bought a record, it sounded how it sounded, and that was that. You got the music out of it anyway.
  2. Grammatical errors being the only real point of contention should be considered a major triumph for a Crouch piece!

  4. Agreed overall, but a fair, if not exactly air-tight, case can be made for the Gospel of John, which, regardless of all that, is one of, if not the, most beautiffly written books of the NT, as well as the only gospel that shows no signs of its literary content being "derived" from previous sources.
  5. Walking on ater/ice is easy. It takes a real Diety to go...
  6. Same here. the first Crouch I've read in a looooong time that doesn't set my blood a'boilin'. A few quibbles, sure, but I have those with almost everything I read any more.

    Don Alias

I blew off those Stone Alliance albums back in the day, mostly because I just wasn't into the whole Grossman/Liebman school of playing. Am still "mixed" on Liebman, but my partner-in-crime Pete Gallio turned my on to the Grossman/Stone Alliance PM sides. The thing I didn't like about him (Grossman) then - the sheer over-the-topness of his playing, is now something that I find, if not exactly "attractive", certainly and significantly more understandable in terms of how and why a cat would want/need to play that way. So I've been picking up the reissues, and have been mostly well pleased. And in the process, I'm picking up on what I can't believe I missed the first time around - those grooves that Alias & Perla hook up on. Meaty, indeed!

  12. Does jazz really "matter" anymore? I mean, to "us", yeah. But geez, it seems like "the world" is sending "us" a message that "they" don't really give a fuck anymore. The feeling's mutual. I guess...

  16. Can't say that I've ever heard "tentative" ever used in connection w/Joseph Bowie before. Are you sure that's legal?
  17. Not a big fan of Schapp myself, but it ain't a perfect world. If it was, though, I'd tell him to SHUT THE FUCK UP EVERY WONST IN A WHILE! But like I said, it ain't.

  19. But... The evening news anchor can't show any leg, and that's been a big part of Katie's schtick from the git-go. I myself have no problem with that... I do think she has anchor chops, with or without the abilty to show leg. What I don't think CBS has is anywhere near the organization to back her (or any anchor) up with comprehensive reporting. The organization's been systematically gutted over the last 10-15 years and is but a shell of its former self. It's tragic, really, because that shop used to be the finest in the world afaic. But no more.
  20. So, if I make a wish for Paris Hilton, does that make everything even?
  21. Indeed it is. Yet he does it so...enthusiastically. As if he's compelled to do it, no matter how bad it is. And that is part of the story.
  22. I'd buy the motherfukkah. It's Tyrone Washington, and there's a story there, one of which you (and others, including myself) find fascinating. This is part of it. Of course, you already got a burn, so then the question becomes one of "object" vs. "meat". You got the meat, but in buying the object, you might be helping Heiner Stadler, which means that the Brains On Fire stuff might come out sooner. Or not. That's a crap shoot.
