  1. So glad to have this on Spotify. Easy to access at the times and places of my choosing. Wellman Braud was a MONSTER!!!
  2. I prefer the Capitol "I'm A Fool To Want You" to the original. Heresy, maybe, but oh well. Overall, it's more riveting to me when Sinatra acts out his psychoses in ballads rather than in swing. The ballads have more room to accommodate him, imo.
  3. The thing is, they don't allow overt mentions of other sites over there. So if somebody from here went over there and was all like, hey go over to Organissimo, I like it better over there, post after post, the gortbots over there would scrub that shit with laser speed. We don't work it like that here, but honestly, I consider such repeated behavior to be pretty callous and lowlife. It's an affront to the owner, who keep in mind is not some "big name" engineer with a cult following, but who is instead an honest hard-working musician. Go where you like, but be where you are when you are there. If you don't want to be here, don't be here. I guess some people's mamas never taught them basic manners. Now, back to Sonny Clark.
  4. Cody's Seeing Eye Singles - The Look Of Love!!!
  5. Should we just go ahead and change the name of this thread?
  6. Tonally, maybe Junior led the way. Phrasing, maybe the other way around. You would to have been there in real time, though. I wasn't!
  7. You think they're ordering smaller first pressings than before? There wasn't a pre-order for this set, right?
  8. Send him to Hoffman!!!!! On a serious note, though - I wonder what the implications are of this set being available for sale immediately at the time of announcement. No pre-ordering necessary, or "will we or won't we" drama. I hope it's a good sign of economic confidence and a harbinger of things to come.
  9. Calendar marked! 07/14/23 Ellington In Order, Volume 2 (1928-30) 08/11/23 Ellington In Order, Volume 3 09/15/23 Ellington In Order, Volume 4 10/13/23 Ellington In Order, Volume 5 11/17/23 Ellington In Order, Volume 6 12/15/23 Ellington In Order, Volume 7
  10. I think I'll join and post there, then! Now can we stop the recruiting drive for Lon's Hoffman Paradise Thread and get back to this Sonny Clark set, or something like it?
  11. There are those who will tell you the Joe sounded like Junior, not the other way around!
  12. Wheedle Parcher - Love Sold Short
  13. +1 (is that how you do it?)
  14. The Orange Pillow - Always Over There

    Samara Joy

Cassandra Wilson held my attention for a long time.
  16. I was in the habit of always telling my wife how much I preferred the cooking at Ruth's Diner over her's. I finally realized how rude that was when Ruth's Diner closed and my wife told me that I should go find Ruth and get her to cook for me.
  17. That ain't no way to treat a lady
  18. Dean Torrence. That became his career after Jan Berry's unfortunate accident.
  19. You know who did the artwork for Love You, right
  20. I was not immediately that taken with it. It's still not my "go-to" for Sinara balladry. Those are all later in the game. But Riddle's charts run deep and I eventually warmed to it because of where they led me with the singing.
  21. Why do they call that Beach Boys? Even with the AI factor, that's Jan & Dean. The voices sound real, but like the tape was slowed down just ever so slightly. You know who did the artwork for Love You, right?
  22. Because nowhere was the author's name present? Wait, don't tell me...it wouldn't have made any difference, right? Did this book not have any kind of a back cover blurb or anything? You know, just read the back cover, right? Oh wait, you're in Florida, right? Ok. Or are you out here now? Say hi to Audree next time you see her!
  23. Drive people? With gas at these prices?
