What rock music are you listening to? Non-Jazz, Non-Classical.

I prefer the line that nobody wrote but I remembered (for several decades!) you writing - Ladies and Gentlemen, this then is Worktime.

completing the gallery with: PR 7672 = The Pee Wee Russell Memorial Album, not an MPS lease. PR 7696 = The Teddy Wilson Trio In Europe; 1968 licensed from Metronome (Denmark) not MPS There appears to have been some reciprocity? Interesting to see Zoller getting co-leader (and forst billing) for the MPS version, but not on the domestic version.

Discogs should do you better than this.

From what? The tyranny of speelcheck?

Duly noted, and thank you.

Not licensed.

About one week left. Most things have been sussed out to at least some degree, but still - any further input is welcomed, be it new or follow-up. Very little has been fully identified! Besides, when it comes to opinions, there are no guesses needed!

It's like the 7th Series of Prestige...how many of these are there? And how many do you have? 17 LPs + a 45, is that correct?

Ordered Classic Capitol Jazz Sessions + The Complete Master Jazz Piano Series from Bob's Jazz Record Emporium(?), also in Chicago, a pretty bigass package of records to trawl at any shipping degree, but this one was sent Media Mail, and check this out - ordered on March 13, UPS tracking showed scheduled for March 22, actually delivered today, March 20. Seven freaking calendar days. Maybe Bob got an in with the PO? But I've ordered 7 Mosaics from them in the last, what, 8(?) days, four seperate orders (goota work on the impulse control...), and they're here now. Wherever the weak link(s) in the Media Mail chain are (and they're obviously there), they ain't between either here and Bob's...or. rarely, between here and Dusty.

The rest of Worktime, I leave for you to discover.

"God Made Me Funky"...my god, I was in a record store when that came out, they put it on, and I was like, wow, new Herbie record, cool, but then that vocal started I was like, wait, this isn't Sly who is this, and then that Bennie Maupin solo started and kept going, and going, and GOING...WAY more out than anything on a Herbie record, for damn sure not a Sly record, so I almost literally ran up to the counter and probably literally said WHAT THE HELL IS THIS??!?!?!?!? This was back in the day when a good record store would have a badass sound system and would crank their records up, so they knew that if it hit you in that good spot, that you would buy it, so yeah, WHAT THE HELL IS THIS??!?!?!?!? So they showed me, and I bought it on the spot. Went back to the shopping and bought some other stuff, but hey, I was taking no chances on God Made Me Funky. Oh hell no. God would give me anything I want, but for this one, it took $4.98 (iirc) first. Like the song said...

Love it when the memory actually works...the impressions are still always good, but the details....some days are better than others.

You know, I used to have to defend Wearther Report/Zawinual against the stickuptheirassjazzpurists about the synths, and my first - and still primary - line is that hey, colors, textures unique to electronics, not imitating "real" instruments but being real instruments. So it was in the liner notes to either Quasar or Dragonfly, or maybe some interview, i forget, where they say something about "sounds like you've been listening to Weather Report, whaddup with that, Mr. Silence humming trioman?" And his response was - textures, I love the textures. Well, yeah. DUH! If Joe Biden was a jazz fan, I bet he'd say, "NEVER bet against the Jimmy Giuffre people!"

There was a Clarke-Boland as well, correct? Who else? Wondering how well that series got distributed nationwide. We had pretty goo rack-job service for Prestige when I started buying in 1970-71, but I never saw any of those.
-
Wow, that would have been a totally different take on the music than the MPS/JEB notes, no doubt...
-
WHOA! Never seen that, just the BASF/MPS version...who wrote the liner notes for this Prestige version?
-
Didn't this guy cry "victim" a few years ago about a completely unrelated matter? Some agent or somebody called him out about something, some shit like that. I liked it better when mobsters ran this shit, at least the grudges part of it. Spare us the public tears, just fix the problem and keep moving along.
