  1. Or better, who was Don Logan to have his name on the Paula release?
  2. Any chance of a Paul Serrano link in that chain?
  3. Spent a week or so revisiting most all of his records up through and including Living Inside Your Love and found no fault, and only slightly less a portion of true pleasure of some degree or another. also, glad that it appears that he kept his money. Not everybody does. Cries of "commercialism" ring hollow when up against, hey, here's 78 year old jazz/Black musician who actually not only got rich, but kept the money and stayed rich. Doesn't have to play another not of ANY kind unless/until he wants to. George Benson, like Tito Rodriguez, wins at life.
  4. Like all butts, they're of their time.
  5. Freestyle time, baby! although, no idea how it comes now, but the Open Door stuff is exquisite.
  6. Note that Tolliver kept all of his publishing for both Paper Man & The Ringer. No deals cut with Mann. Not so with Roy Ayers, though, his tunes were all published by Mann.
  7. The whole series... Phillip Hays has his name on the arts...John Berg the design. ah, yes, Philip Hays, lower left corner: funny the tricks you from looking at Don Schlitten-produced LP cvoers Yes, Charlie Christin as well: Looks likely that we all have seen Mr. Hays' work! https://www.discogs.com/artist/2516206-Philip-Hays http://www.philhays.com/info/index.html
  8. Seems to have been done by the same artist (art department?) that did the Bessie Smith series, maybe?
  9. Then not illegal!
  10. They were there for less than 30 years. Definitely an anomaly.
  11. They've got 28 showing here: https://www.discogs.com/label/1540457-Birds-Eyes
  12. You know what's crazy about that cover? The model is wearing hose. Women do not wear hosiery any more these days, generally speaking. They gone, bare legs are what it is now. No opinion on that, but I noticed it while watching That Girl reruns, I was like, why do Ann Marie's legs look so weird, and then it hit me, oh, she's wearing hose. Frank Foster would not have written "Shiny Stockings" if he were now what he was then. Ok, he could, maybe, but not by that name.
  13. I have the LP, and it's nice enough, but... He's also on the early Ubiquity album Red Black & Green...I don't recall any particularly impactful input there, either. Still, it shows you that the entrepreneurial impulses behind Strata-East were not occurring in an ideological vacuum.
  14. What would the source label(s) for this collection be?
  15. Did he ever get to record a solo while he was with Woody? I don't recall one right off hand. "Rick Syracuse" would have been a great name, btw. For Firesign, for porn, for baseball, you name it, pretty much for anything except jazz, or plumbing.
  16. Red Barber Vanessa Lloyd Cutter‎ Jon Shave
  17. this might be genius...a lot happens before it's over, a lot.
  18. How 'bout baby girl checking out the ballgame?
  19. Am I gonna have to wait for the Joe Henderson Mosaic (not likely to purchase) before I get my Black and White Mosaic (pretty likely to purchase)?
  20. Was admission charged?
  21. Ra-Kalam Bob Moses Kalama Epstein Kamala Harris
  22. Madame Butterfly Mothra Naphtali
  23. Majorie Albohm LP (Laura Pergolizzi) L. P. Ladouceur
