  1. They do, but DeepDiscount is the only one I recognize...I've had mixed experiences with them...
  2. Stan Lewis was a character, so I can see him having a cook on staff (the downtown Stan's was directly next door to the Jewel-Pula offices, and there was a lot of traffic in and out) but..."bottle washer"? That seems like a code word for....something.
  3. The Crystals The Diamonds The Neales
  4. Alamac LPs can bring you some true delights...they turn up in odd places at oddly affordable prices...Café Society, Carnegie Hall (w/Rodney), Sweden, Bird with the Herd, Alamac is a garden of bootleg delights for the diligent jazz record collector. It's all been on CD, but at what price today, it varies.
  5. They were together on the 1969 Rutgers bootleg.
  6. Not finding this Land item...Amazon says "currently unavailable" etc. anybody got a firm lead?
  7. With Rockland Palace, make sure you get a speed-corrected version. Some run fast. But past that, another no-brainer.
  8. P. K. Yonge Adrian Younge The Delfonics
  9. Don Logan? https://www.discogs.com/artist/1631865-Don-Logan
  10. It's a 2 CD set...not exactly a bargain stealofadeal, but if amazon price matches the lowest price before actual shipping date (and they usually do), it will come down. Shipping...if you order from amazon with even a semi-regularity, especially for things other than records, the Prime package more than paus for itself, and pretty quickly too. Whatever my end price ends up being, shipping is definitely going to be free. It always is!
  11. whoa, you better patent that one, like right now!
  12. CD option also available (and pre-ordered) at Amazon (and hopefully other outlets). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WPG53QP?psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp Kind of a no-brainer, imo, and very much looking forward to reading Mark's notes before/during/after (some or all) the music.
  13. Ok, was very much on the MaybeFence for this one up until jsut now, had a look at the discography again, looked really closely, and took the measurementration. 50.0001 order 49.9999 let it go. Hey, you know me, I'm a numbers guy, Got the Covid check and a tax refund...this is money that wasn't going to go for the Joe Henderson set, anyway so hey. Teddy be ready.
  14. Cumulatively. the later strings sessions kind of numb me after a while, but any given track is delightful enough for me. Again, thre are some very VERY good Mercury Verve sides, but on the whole, the best of those years seems to have been done live. No idea what's out there now, probably a whole new generation of newly new stuff, but in the LP/early CD days, hell, unless it was obviously something l already had...buy first, figure it out later.
  15. Sally Rand Dave McNally Charles Atlas
  16. Yeah, that too. That Ember Birdland set (which I don't have, arrrgh) is some simply wondermous packaging, even if there's no place for it on any rational shelving system.
  17. This is the Open Door set I've got, 2CDs: https://www.discogs.com/Charlie-Parker-At-The-Open-Door/release/10622622 https://www.amazon.com/At-Open-Door-Charlie-Parker/dp/B000050IG7 http://www.plosin.com/milesAhead/BirdDisco.aspx?id=ParkerOpenDoor 1953 was a pretty magic year for Bird overall, the Verve records don't really do that justice. If you want to do a deep dive, use this as a guide: http://www.plosin.com/milesAhead/BirdQuery.aspx Truth be told, though, if it's Bird, get it. He's one of the very few people in any walk of life to whom the word "genius" truly applies. Not always "perfect", but always genius.
  18. No, a too-short double-breasted has never been hip. Now that red and green shit, that's hip. Hangs well. Donald Harrison knows sharp, though. Pretty , too.
  19. Dude, when were double-breasted jackets THAT short ever a good idea? Even with white slacks? Looks like a freaking uniform. What was Terrence wearing?
  20. Did Shearing have somebody to look at his record covers for him?
  21. yeah, get that, THEN start freestyling.
  22. I almost went that far, but the used copy I had a shot at had a little too little packaging for my taste. I do recall it, if not fondly, at least pleasurable enough. Then again, I'm promiscuous as fuck when it comes to stuff like that. But hey.
