  2. Dallas to interview Mike Singletary: ESPN (orig AP) Certainly a more interesting candidate than Norv Turner, who'd be a lame choice IMO. But I won't even try to predict Jones's decision.

  4. No, sorry, by bogus I meant classless, bush, horses**t, etc. behavior. No doubt that it happened, no intent to question anyone's account...
  5. Interesting. The only thing I noticed, immediately post-game, was BB's encounter with Dungy on the field, which appeared gracious and cordial. The press conference footage I saw later, while far from exemplary, didn't seem too far out of line (mostly following NY sports, I'm used to HCs having adversarial relationships with the media). Didn't notice the Manning snub, which sounds bogus. I ignored the whole Mangini thing, because the NY tabloid media had inflated the affair to absurd proportions over the course of the season.
  6. All things considered, that's not a bad price. Damn, that's a great-looking set. Price seems favorable to me. And a 600-page book! I've heard some Kagel discs (on Montaigne) by the Schoenberg ensemble. Noticing the Claude Vivier disc on the MDT page, I'm going to have to research this further. US buyers can only hope it'll show up at Berkshire Record Outlet some day...
  7. It's freakin' excellent! (Arrived today)

  13. Thanks! I goofed: it was Olney (whose stuff I usually like) rather than Gammons pimping the trade @ ESPN. I'm not sure about the trade either, but the wacky salary inflation this off-season has left me even more baffled than usual...
  14. Yes, Gammons is also pimping this deal at espn.com, so I should have taken it more seriously. I don't pay up for "ESPN Insider", so dunno what Peter's saying.
  15. Maybe the Moneyball number crunchers for the Red Sox forgot to include a "Coors Field" dummy variable in their regression analyses... I don't put much credence in the rumor. It looks like Boston is assuming the Yankees' long-time media role as rumored destination for all white elephant contracts.

    Bud Freeman

I found this Balliett quote from a 1959 article on Pee Wee Russell: "...while throughout the record [it's not clear to me which record] Freeman emits further variations on the solo he has been at work on for several decades."

  19. Your sig furnishes an appropriate metaphor for the latter matchup...
  20. I'm pretty sure I saw a small mtn lion out here on the East Coast last summer. Local rangers swear there are none around, but many don't believe...
  21. Whoa! Interesting detail: On the verge of their 50th anniversary, the husband and wife are 70 and 65, respectively...
