  1. i have noticed the slight phasing effect of cymbals of blue note recordings, i dont believe elvin was what caught my ear to it, but I LIKE IT it reminds me of phil collins- now if only they could of done a jazz album with the trademarked phil collins/hugh padgham reverberated snare drum sound, THAT WOULD BE THE BEST-- you know, like when it goes BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM I can feel it, comming in the air tonighhhhht, oh lord, oh looooorrrrd
  2. Mizell originally pitched the idea to Lee Morgan before settling in with Byrd. WHO TOLD U THAT? There was a lot of this in the 70's, heartbreaking sell-out's. I remember seeing Gary Bartz live at the Tower Theatre in Philly, blowing stock funk phrases on electric alto, with some chick singer cooing "Ma-ca-ro-o-ni". U SAW GARY BARTZ IN HIS "MUSIC IS MY SANCTURARY" PERIOD? ***SWEET!!!!!! wait wait MONUMENTS is a jackie FUNK album? is that as good as it sounds? and how is JOE HENDERSON- black miracle?
  3. how did F.R. die?
  4. ive seen this one around-- is it for real?
  5. saw this one at the record store but its sealed so i cant check it out--- can u guys tell me about it?
  6. i cannot stress how good this record is. it was exactly what i was looking for. its even better than the "blue's blues" i just got which cost 4 times as much
  7. i know, hi heel sneakers and st thomas- this one HAS to be funky as fuck: whos going to ask michael cus cuna about this one- that hairy bastard can't stop keeping this stuff from us
  8. i didnt hear thrill is gone, stormy monday, OR good times roll- i just spun it
  9. you still havent said how you know this? do you own a mispress of this too?
  10. have any of you heard of, or heard tapes of this- lee morgan, gary bartz, john gilmore? they should of made as many lps as lee and wayne did w/ art! 11. the dead wax says the AS-84, the yusef lp. but it is NOT yusef-- six songs on side one, all like bb king or something- i am SO mad
  12. what excuse did michael cus-cuna give about this one? Freddie Roach Quartet Kahlil Rahman (vib) Freddie Roach (org) Eddie Wright (g) Clarence Johnston (d) Rudy Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, NJ, September 16, 1965 tk.4 Bread And Butter Blue Note rejected 1647 tk.5 Hi Heel Sneakers - 1648 tk.6 Avatar Blues - tk.10 Spring Is Here - tk.14 St. Thomas - 1649 tk.18 King Of The Road
  13. i payed 4.99 for it: should of given them 29.99. this lp does not dissapoint. unlike funktion junktion with the questionable arrangments/tune selections, summer soft just BRINGS IT. not only do you have harold land but also herman riley on sax too and even cedars on it. its a funky blue mitchell supreme. was this his last album?
  14. do you have the ABC version? is that the only one? the imprint on the lp matches the yusef number, but there are six bands, and its DEFINETLY not even yusef
  15. surely im not the 1st to put this disc on and get mad about this? am i? side a's some blues or r and b singer-- side b is jazz
  16. well my friend sometimes records blue note artists on mini discs, but if you mean offically released bn albums on minidisc, you're completely out of your mind
  17. Allen Lowe what r u talking about? hank never was layin' in no gutter. hank but of had a hard time but he was never in a gutter
  18. sorry 2 burst your bubble but as far as outside sounds go, bill frisell kind of said the final word about that tonight/ he was extra crazier than usual- just him and chong vu and a violin player. they were just doing crazy noise improv it was completly out of control- it was okay but the whole time i was just thinking about how i don't have bantu village
  19. is Lighthouse Allstars + 11 arr. by bob cooper, live at Royce Hall (Omegadisc) reissued on cd?
  20. i bet those harold land ones are balls-- i sadly hesitated too long on the sonny red and now its gone forever.
