  1. freelancer I know what you mean. That feeling of incompletiveness has cost us a lot of money right? I have the Soul Jazz 24-bit JRVG from 2000 (with the dark OBI). I don't know if there are any other JRVG editions of this? Best of Luck anyway! /Shaft PS The Mosaic was a select?
  2. I have the JRVG. It sound unusually good for JRVG ;.) You should not be unhappy with that edition. Nice cover too ;-) /Shaft
  3. Hi Guys! You have to be bit careful with RVG's mastering - especially on the Japanese RVG's. He very often narrowed the stereo perspective A LOT. Sometimes to almost mono. I myself don't like that. Reversing the absolute polarity can maybe have a positive effect but it won't get the stereo spread back. Well nobody said it did but just to clarify ;.) /Shaft BTW The Donald Byrd "off to the races" is really really good music. Stay clear of the JRVG. It's horrible. Get the TOCJ instead or this new RVG if it's ok. I haven't listened to it myself.
  4. Did just that ' Yeah he was smokin' and it aint grass BTW Nice guitar solo by Grant green to. One of Pattons best. /Shaft
  5. Hi again (was I ever gone ;-) Well it catches up on me. Some serious playing from Roy here. I remembered that it was the Sax-guy that put me off a little(yes just a little). His name is Justin Robinson and not really my cup of tea here. But the album is on the whole very listenable and even enjoyable most of the time. My favourite would be track no2 "A day in Vienna". /Shaft
  6. I'll give it another try. It did not catch on on the first listen. Get back to you;-) Shaft
  7. Preordered too. It does not seem to be available for prorder anywhere else? Is this reissuer really special for UK and don't distribute so much all over the world to other retailers. My first contact with them. /Shaft
  8. Hi The OBI strip is kind of nifty. On it says a number of things. I'm no expert on this matter and I do not know japanese. However I can understand that on the OBI you can find the original price(in yen) and release date and sometimes how long it is available. On CD's there is often a note about the mastering process (24-bit etc.). The name of the artist and album name is written in japanese on the edge as well. Below it is usually in english. The desirability lies i that with this OBI you get the complete product and some information that is not available on the vinyl cover (or CD) itself. /Shaft
  9. Hi, A CD-R made from Vinyl or tapes? /Shaft
  10. Of course I prefer "my own" movies. Great soundtracks too! Shaft
  11. You guys are just to funny /Shaft
  12. Ron S, I think its worth around 5% Ceteris Paribus. Collectors love those limited and numbered editions. It makes us feel good. /Shaft
  13. The Collector seems like a good movie I think that I rather stay with Jazz Mosaics than Butterflies and Women.... /Shaft
  14. Hmmm....it seems I'm not completely alone in theese thoughts. BTW Nice lobby card picture - you starring Ubu?? /Shaft
  15. I hope the title and description puts the question right "Do you consider the Universal Mosaics ( the ones without individual numbering) to be worth less second hand?" I guess the "proof is in the pudding" meaning that would you actually be eager to bid high or pay higher) for a numbered release of the same set? The reason I ask this is because I recently aquired an Universal release of The Jazztet box from amazon Germany and even though it "is" a mosaic it does not feel a 100% like a "real" mosaic. The music and the booklet are the same I guess....bur maybe I'm being silly /Shaft
  16. Hi guys, I was sad to hear of Maynard's passing. "Conquistador" ha long been a favourite of mine. I know every note by heart since I started to listen to this LP (on cassette) when I was a kid. Although a bit "commercial" there is really some great playing on this one. RIP /Shaft
  17. Yeah! They arrived today. That Mobley Poppin session is a killer!! Love the Wailing with Lou as well. Thanks! /Shaft
  18. Paul Desmond "First place again" on Gambit. Great music but miss the original LP cover!! /Shaft

    Hidden tracks

The Story checks out to be true with Chet's Baby Breeze. Quite fun even if the drummer (Charlie Rice) plays very oddly part of the extra time...;-) /Shaft
