Isn't Limburger on probation - or something like that? I thought part of his plea agreement was to "stay clean" for a couple of years. That means arriving from the Dominican Republic with a pill prescription for ANYTHING in someone else's name is a big NO NO. Wonder how he's spinning this one today. F*cking idiot.

Frank Deford focused on Cuban in his weekly segment on NPR this morning. One might anticipate Deford ripping Mark Cuban a new one but quite the contrary. He didn't excuse the occassional crazy stuff but praised him for his genuine, fanlike enthusiasm, his love for the game and for the new face he has put on "ownership". In the world of sports, according to Deford, Cuban has "redefined the position."

Al, Fagen plays a melodica on Mary Shut the Garden Door. Howard Levy plays harmonica on What I Do. I hear you about the harp. Personally, I dig the melodica.

Blue Note isn't the only label rearranging furniture. Over the past year, Concord has signed Rita Coolidge, Debbie Boone and Michael Bolton.

Damn. This is getting wild. With DSL, Sunday the 4th of June, 7:30 to 8:30 PM MDT organissimo forums are like wading through a tar pit. I think I see a pattern. From "view new posts", clicking "last post" just doesn't work most of the time. Error messages and freeze-ups are common now. Can anybody give me a clue as to why this is happening?
-
Seems like the past couple of weeks, a third of the time I can't get on the board at all (error message) and often it's very slow. When I do get the forums page, it's not unusual for things to freeze after I click a post and also when I try to access another forum. All this with my fancy new DSL. Just curious if anyone else has the problem.

Definitely one of the best this year. Terrific album, Frank. Wonderful to hear the Motian collaboration. Masa Kamaguchi is amazing, too.

Bill Gates Wishes He Weren't So Rich The corporate leader says he doesn't like the attention of being the world's richest man. May 4, 2006: 3:40 PM EDT REDMOND, Wash. (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates said Wednesday he wished he were not the world's richest man. "I wish I wasn't. There is nothing good that comes out of that," said Gates, whose personal fortune sank by billions since last week when the software giant disappointed investors by saying new investments would crimp earnings. The corporate leader who made Microsoft into the world's largest software maker - and who is also one of the biggest philanthropists - is seen as a man who does not like publicity. He explained that he did not like the attention of being the world's richest person. "You get more visibility as a result of it," he said during an interview conducted by CNBC reporter Donny Deutsch in front of a crowd of people attending a Microsoft advertising event. The Microsoft co-founder said that the person he learned most from in the world, aside from technology colleagues, was fellow-billionaire and legendary investor Warren Buffett. "He has this very refreshing, simple way of looking at things so I put him top of the list," said Gates, adding that the top lesson from Buffett was the importance of integrity. Still, Gates joked about his plight being unequaled in wealth. Asked if he surrounded himself with financial peers, he quipped, "No, I sit alone." Gates has been the richest man in the world for eight years running - since 1998 - and was worth $90 billion at his fortune's peak in 1999, according to the Forbes list of richest people. His fortune is currently at $50 billion, according to the magazine.

I assume everyone has heard this gem. They all look great but I'd go just to hear Galban.

Her fine duets on Karrin Allyson's Footprints are a nice appetizer for what should be an amazing album. -
Blue versus red? I really think this belongs in the Political Forum, Chris.

That's my take too. They targeted the Triple A/Americana radio markets a few weeks before jazz. Still, I like her and always look forward to her new work.

Thanks for the update Jim. Once, I even got an error message.....in German! WTF?

Zany Katie Couric - A Network News Anchor?
RonF replied to RonF's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
My folks watched CBS too and I've watched Schiefer since Rather left and agree he's been good. The old network format of squeezing the news of the day into 22 minutes still seems so archaic. Like anything else, Couric will have to stand the test of time to gain any credibility. It's a hell of stretch for me but she might prove the critics wrong. -
