  1. fent99, Please forgive me for not acknowledging your efforts sooner. I've been away from home and haven't spent much time on this board. I did, however, get to listen to the BFT a number of times. Enjoyed it very much. I actually recognized a couple of the horn players (easy to say now). I've always thought I would be able to pick out Kenny Wheeler, guess I was wrong about that. Track 8 was probably my favorite music. Thanks again.
  2. May I have a download? Thanks.
  3. Mr. Nessa, This is going off topic of the thread but oh well. Congratulations. We are about to take a trip for our grandaughter's first birthday. I can tell you that your blessing will just keep getting better and better. Nothing like it on many different levels.
  4. Bill, I,m doing some traveling this month, so I wanted to make sure to say that I'm listening and enjoying. In case I don't get around to it later. Nice stuff all around. I will just say that my taste in music is a little different than yours. I did like the solo piano take on "Making Whoopie". I thought he/she said quite a bit in a short time. The BFT is on my mp3 player so I will be listening on my trip. As always I'm having great fun hearing music that I don't know. Thanks very much.
  5. Alway fun to find out who I've been listening to. I used to have the Michael Carvin album long ago. Must have been with the stuff I lost in a hail storm. I'm not sure why I wasn't more interested in the Moncur track. I need to go back and hear that again. I guess I will keep and eye out for the Max Roach album but doubt if there are any more $2 deals out there. Thanks very much for your efforts.
  6. After listening to the BFT once more, I'm going to take another run at #13. At first listen, I thought the trumpeter was Enrico Rava. But I'm sure this isn't the album he did with Dino Saluzzi, so I'm going to guess it could be Tomasz Stanko. Maybe it's the ECM thing but I think they have a similar sound. Also, could the drummer be Jon Christensen? My second favorite track on your effort.
  7. I would very much like to hear it. Download would be great. Thanks.
  8. Will someone please put an ID on track #3.
  9. I would have saved my friend's life and answered right away - Walt Dickerson. Now, if pressed for a number 2, after some thought probably Michael Moore.
  10. Music can affect us in a lot of ways but you can't beat "feeling better". Enjoyed your earlier comments on Mr. Barker.
  11. Looking for a few smiles tonight, so I listened to "Save The Bones" by Danny Barker.
  12. Reply sent. Thank you.

  14. Not too impressive. I have two or three albums by Dino Saluzzi, most on LP, so I've been listening to them for a long time. He has a style.
  15. After the first couple of listens on most BFTs, something jumps out at me. On this one it is track #3. Great take on an older song (I think). Love the trumpet. I hope someone IDs this so I don't have to wait till the end of the month. I'll make one initial attempt to embarass myself with an ID. Didn't play long but I think I'm hearing Dino Saluzzi on track #13. Like the drums and bass on this one as well. More listening to do here but thanks very much.
  16. I would very much like to hear your BFT. Download would be great. Thank you.
  17. "Peace" by Walt Dickerson
  18. Sorry, I am not looking to buy today but I wanted to say congrats on the new job. You do get around the country.
  19. Instead of lowering prices, would anyone like to make a fair offer any of the remaining? Thanks. Nick
  20. I am very sorry that I haven't noticed this thread before. I will put a check in the mail tomorrow. I really do appreciate this forum and the opportunity to be part of the group. Nick

    Walt Dickerson

Looking thru the discography, I see two private recordings, one with Sun Ra and one with Sirone and Andrew Cyrille. Are those things available anywhere? St. Louis Blues and Over the Rainbow by Walt Dickerson and Sun Ra has got to be worth the price of admission.

    BFT 87 Reveal

First time in over a year that I've actually known something on a BFT. "Blue Mountain's Sun Drummer" for my money is a terrific album. The Aram Shelton album is something I need to check out further, also. I'm going to have another listen to the BFT now that I know the IDs. Thanks very much for you effort.

    BFT # 86 Reveal

Thanks for having a listen to my little effort. Happy you found a couple things you liked. Since you have probably looked through the comments, I'm not going to restate things I've said before but I still find it interesting that everyone mentioned Abdullah Ibrahim on the first track. Also, French horn is a tough guess (the way Varner plays it anyway). I wasn't trying to be tricky, just like the tune and the way they play it. Again, thanks very much for checking in.
