I just bought a slightly different version. I've only copied one LP so far but it worked pretty easy and for my 63 year old ears and needs I think the copy sounds pretty good. Thanks for the recommendation.

I have not read Preston Love's autobiography. They have it at my library, so I will give it a try. Thanks for the recomendation and the BFT.

May I join in with a download, please. I haven't really been into listening to music lately but I looked at your last BFT list. You did a track by a guy from where I live, Preston Love, so I figured it as a sign that I need to hear what else you have to present.

I don't buy much but I'm glad I got this one. Really good album.

I have to be honest and say that I've only listened to the BFT one time. This has nothing to do with the fine tracks you have presented but I just haven't been into music the last couple of months. So I apologize for not giving your BFT the attention it deserves. 10. Isfahan Available Jelly Amsterdam, Netherlands, Bimhuis 2009-11-20 Eric Boeren- c, Wolter Wierbos- tb, Michael Moore- as,cl, Goran Krmac- tuba, Ernst Glerum- b, Michael Vatcher- d. Available Jelly is one of my favorite groups, and some of my favorite musicians. Their "Happy Camp" album is for my money one of the best pieces of music ever. I'm pretty sure I would never have guessed this one no matter how many times I would have listened to it. Is it from a private tape?

I would like to sell Fred Lonberg-Holm's Fast Citizens "Gather" CD for $9.00. Thanks.

It's not often that I have an album that is used on a BFT and it's just sad that when I do, I don't recognize it. Gary McFarland's "Point of Departure"; totally agree with you comments. It is a wonderful album. At least I thought it sounded familiar. I enjoyed your comments on the reveal as well as the music. Thanks again.

Not King Ubu, but I think "Song/Dance" is one of CleanFeed's best.

"The Haunt" by Bobby Naughton is a great album for my taste.

Thanks for the BFT, Big Al. I'm sure you put a lot of time into putting it together, good job. This honestly isn't the style of music I typically listen to but that is why I enjoy these things. That also means I don't have much for comments (not unusual) or Ids (I am pretty sure I did hear Carlos Santana in there). I'm sure that I've mentioned being a big fan of the vibe, so several vibraphone tracks works for me. The guy on the first track was probably my favorite player here, a Milt Jackson like style. I don't think that is who it is though. Track 3 is the one thing on the BFT that sounded familiar but you know how that goes. I'm going to make my one obligatory wild guess and say Johnny Lytle. Track 16 was my favorite track. I'm not sure I've heard anything quite like it. I wonder if it is a little different for the group playing it as well. If there is a whole album like this, I will be happy to find out about it.

Could I have a download also. Thanks.

Thank you very much for the BFT. The Jolson take-off alone was worth the price of admission. Please forgive my late thank you. I have been traveling and spent little or no time on the computer. I did however have my MP3 player and your BFT was one of the things I listened to.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Thanks for this thread.

Sorry I didn't get back to the discussion thread but I did listen to the BFT quite a bit. Enjoyed it. Thanks very much.

Free jazz that is more serene than jarring
NIS replied to scoos_those_ blues's topic in Recommendations
I think this was one of the last recording featuring Paul Motian. He was probably on alot of other "serene" albums. In addition to the Walt Dickerson album already noted, I would suggest checking out "Shades of Love", "Visions", and "Tenderness". -

He has already been noted but if the above sounds good to you, go to Bobby Naughton's website and check out "The Haunt". -
That is very interesting to me that you found the music weird. I was worried that I had put together a set of songs that were too normal, to the point of being mundane and bland. #15 is Mary Halvorson! You guessed right! Perhaps weird is a little overstated but I don't think mundane either. I was probably listening to track 4 when I used weird. Admittedly, I don't get out much, but this is to my ears more unusual than bland.

Thanks for this BFT. I spent some time in a waiting room yesterday and got to do some listening to it. You have covered a lot of ground. Interesting and in some cases kind of weird (to my ears) stuff. That is not a criticism. My initial favorite is track 10. I know nothing about this style, so you will educate me. I will also make my obligatory ID guess so I can get on with listening and following the comments. I will say that track 15 could be Mary Halvorson. She has a pretty unique style. Of coarse, If I'm wrong, maybe not so unique. I like this track. This is a very busy month for me but I intend to be back.

Listened to clips on AMG. Definately the kind of stuff I like, so another OOP album I need to keep a lookout for. I'm not sure if I should thank you or not.

Enjoyed your reveal as much as the BFT. A bunch of new stuff to me but surprisingly, also, some guys I do know a little. I'm still having a hard time believing that is Khan Jamal but I guess you've never lied to me before. I had the Fielder album but I think I traded or gave it to someone, probably on this forum. Hope I got something good in return. I need to check out a bunch of these musicians, Samuel Blazer (I have a Clean Feed album by him), Russ Lossing, Paul Plimley in particular. Thank again.

Just for fun, I'm going to take another run at track 9, which I like more with every listen. I will suggest Nils Wogram and Simon Nabatov.
