  1. That's weird, it should be five minutes, something. At the risk of asking the obvious, did you try the other download link?
  2. 9 is a Colin Walcott album with Don Cherry. This one predates the Codona stuff by a few years but is certainly in the same vein. I have been listening to 10 while checking the net this morning and I can hear the Towner similarities. Not sure about Mariano, I haven't listened to him for some time. Not Aaltonen either. I still think someone might recognize the drummer. You are exposing my lack of knowledge, I don't know Gary Lucas or Danny Gatton. When I get time this evening or next I will have to look them up. 12 is Tom Varner. Album is from the 1980s, I am away from my notes right now but I think the later 1980s. Terrific musician for my taste.

    BFT #87

I would like to be included with a download, please. And thank you. I fear my comments won't be nearly as interesting as your but I will give it my best shot.
  4. Forgot about Quicksilver. I will try to think of a good hint for #11.
  5. Hey Joe, thanks for your comments. Glad you were happy with most of the tracks. I need to get to bed cause we have a 6:00 AM flight tomorrow. I will try to post a response to your comments tomorrow night but I wanted to say that I was happy that someone knows Happy Trails. This version makes me smile ear to ear everytime I hear it. Your discription was great.
  6. Probably a little more ambitious of a drive than I can make. Sound fun though. And I just noticed that I put this in the wrong forum.
  7. You North Carolinians know of any shows between now and the 24th that are driving range of Greensboro?
  8. Have you heard "Silent Tongues"? It has been my experience that it is the one Cecil Taylor album that many people find immediately accessible. I have an pretty beat-up LP I bought used. Haven't listened to it for a long time but don't remember liking it much. Honestly, that may have been partially due to the condition. Maybe I should give it another go. Thanks.
  9. There's a CD titled 'Leaf Palm Hand' of them that is not very expensive and it's also very good. I think Jazzloft and the usual suspects have it. Amazon has it for $12.43: http://www.amazon.com/Leaf-Palm-Cecil-Taylor-Oxley/dp/B00119UA9A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1304530249&sr=8-2 Thanks for the info.
  10. I've always thought I should like Cecil Taylor and I've tried alot of the stuff mentioned in this thread. The only thing that has worked for me is the Feel Trio. I think it is because of Tony Oxley. To me, he really compliments Taylor perfectly. Maybe I can find the duo album mentioned on the previous page. At least if I don't have to give up an arm or leg.
  11. Happy Birthday. Hope it is a great day. I didn't realize you were such a youngin'.
  12. I'm guessing that if you know the brass instrument you will be able to guess the musician. Not the ones you mentioned though.
  13. So I tried combining posts and it didn't work, so I'll try it this way. It is Michael Moore and it is a Sean Bergin album. This one got me into the Dutch thing. Track 6 is not Haker-Flaten. This will probably do it, it's not a bass. Your guesses on musicians for track 10 are wrong but it is ECM. It don't see an Abercrombie thing here but how about the previous track? Embarassing for me but I've never heard John Lloyd some I can't comment on any similarities there.
  14. Like you I've had this since first released. Probably my most played album over the years. Still works for me too. Well, this would be pretty boring if we agreed on everything. It isn't Larry Coryell and isn't recent.
  15. This is the most concise piece on the album. They stay in touch with the tune on the rest but stretch out a little more.
  16. One for one on the ID front. Not a jazz album (there is Earl Hines on this song) but I thought this was a fun track to include. And Ry Cooder can play the guitar.
  17. Might not be any comments just yet but I will start the thread now anyway. I am certainly looking forward to your thoughts and will try to respond timely. Thanks for your interest.

    BFT #85 Reveal

No wonder I didn't know the vibes player on #13. I will need to check this group out. Meschiya Lake also. Thanks again for the effort and thanks for the links.

    BFT #86 Signup

I am going to be pretty busy the next few days, so I sent the download links for this BFT by PM (e-mail for JSangry) today. There should be 13 tracks. If there are any problems, please let me know and hopefully Jeff will help us out. If I missed anyone or if anyone else want to join in, let me know, also. Nick
  20. So, I've been thinking about the vibes player on track 13. The only other early on vibes I have read about is Adrian Rollini. I've never heard him so I did the google thing and found some clips. I don't think this is your guy but I kind of like the way he plays. Thanks for getting me to look into someone I'd never heard before.

JSangry, I am trying to generate some more interest in BFT 86. I see your comments on most of the BFTs and was hoping you would like to join this one as well. The more the merrier and all. Let me know if interested.

    Thanks,
