Among those already mentioned, definitely the Bourne trilogy and the latest Bond flick, Casino Royale. I don't know if these fit the definition of action movie that you're looking for but I would submit a couple thrillers: Robocop (the first one with Peter Weller) Collateral (Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx)

OJCs, other Concords, some Verves $4.99 @ J&R

J&R is going to keep me guessing. I just got notice that the one remaining uncancelled item (Phil and Quill With Prestige) on my second order that their site showed was out of stock has now shipped. I just wish they'd ship the cancelled items that their site shows are in stock. Then I'd only be out 1 item. -
You're new code just cost me another $34.00 and change. (I seem to have low bargain resistance!) I used this one to help fill the country flavored jones I've been having lately. Tennessee Ernie Ford - Masters 1949-1976 (3CD) Hank Williams - The Original Singles Collection (3CD)

I'd second the recommendation on Devilin' Tune v.3. It would be an excellent buy if you're looking to explore artists from this era. It would be about 220 songs from various artists and does have an informative booklet. Look for Allen Lowes' various posts for the set in buy/sell/trade section and you'll see he offers them at a very reasonable price. I've purchased and very much enjoyed vols. 2,3 and 4.

Just a quick look at individual CDs in my collection (not counting any of my box sets) it looks like the largest number appear between 1956 and 1962 (probably pretty common) but my collection spans from the 20's to the 00's.

Where are you getting these codes? You're making me want to spend more money!

I received 5 out of 6 items in my first order but was still charged $1.00 shipping on the cancelled item. I just received an email today informing me that 4 of the 5 items in my second order were cancelled even though the web site indicates that 3 of the 4 cancelled items are still in stock. Ironically, the only item not cancelled in my second order and still listed as processing shows that it's out of stock on the web site. I'm guessing it's pretty likely that that item will be cancelled as well. Time for a call to customer service. Having worked in phone customer service for 12+ years I've learned that being nasty, snarky or giving attitude will get you nowhere and work against you so I was being nice and polite. I had no trouble getting them to agree to refund for the $1.00 shipping charge but the rep there asked if I would prefer to receive the cancelled item instead. She said she could place it on backorder so I could still get it at $4.99 (with no additional shipping charges, just what was already noted on the invoice as if everything had shipped) if I were willing to wait for it. I agreed and asked that it be extended to the second order as well. Since they don't charge you until the item ships I figured, why not? I'm not that hot for these that I can't wait a while. I've got plenty of other stuff I need to listen to in the mean time. I asked why the cancelled items still appear as "in stock" on the web site and she indicated that the web site sometimes took a few days to update. Now granted, I've experienced "customer service" where they'll say anything or say they'll do anything to get you off the phone so I'll just have to be patient and see how this thing pans out. I did get the rep's name and extension if future contact is needed. This whole situation is a bit lame and a lot looser and imprecise than it should be but I'll hang in there for another 2 weeks and give them the benefit of the doubt for now. -

Check your order totals carefully if you were shipped an order that had some cancelled items. You may very well have been charged $1.00 shipping on each item that was cancelled. I've had to call for refunds in the past. -

Nine days and still holding for my second order. The email confirmation for the order indicated that all of the items were in stock. Today I checked the items in the order against their current inventory and find that two of them are not in stock. It wouldn't be a big deal if the Steve Allen Plays Jazz Tonight title (kind of a whim choice) doesn't ship but I really would like to receive that Phil And Quill With Prestige CD. -

I believe country singer George Jones was cited for it decades ago. -
I think this order was in before Ron depleted BMG's stock. I think that's why my other orders haven't shipped yet.

Some of those outstanding orders are starting to roll in. In the mailbox today (from BMG): Enrico Rava's The Words And The Days as well as Tati. Anouar Brahem's Thimar and Jan Garbarek/Ustad Fatesh Ali Khan's Ragas and Sagas. Dino Saluzzi/Anja Lechner's Ojos Negros and The Bill Charlap Trio's Live At The Village Vanguard.

The Horace Silver "Further Explorations" was one of the Spanish Blue Notes with the blue tinted cover photo. I couldn't find a picture of that version so I included a picture of the regular issue in my original post. Unfortunately, when I attempted to play the Silver CD, my player would not read it. I thought it was a problem with my player but I took the disc out and looked at it to discover two long scuff marks crossing over half the disc. It's unplayable. This was a brand-new, sealed disc! I didn't even bother to look at it before putting it in my player but I'm certain my player would not and did not make those marks. They had another copy there and I hope to exchange it tomorrow.

I was running errands this morning and popped into a Half-Price Book store. I couldn't resist picking up still sealed copies of Sonny Clark's My Conception, and Horace Silver's Further Explorations By The Horace Silver Quintet for $7.98 each. (Sonny Clark, Hank Mobley, Clifford Jordan, Donald Byrd, Kenny Burrell, Paul Chambers, Art Blakey, Pete LaRoca.) (Horace Silver, Art Farmer, Clifford Jordan, Teddy Kotick, Louis Hayes.)

Since she didn't throw up after saying it I guess we could consider it a positive review. I've felt my tummy dance too and it wasn't always a good thing.

These all recently came in the mail. Portrait of Sonny Criss and Just Us-Roy Haynes Trio Sonny Stitt/Bud Powell/J.J. Johnson (What's up with that cover art?) and Soul Battle - Oliver Nelson/King Curtis/Jimmy Forrest About Time - Eric Kloss

I was only able to use J8E1,2,3,4 once for a total of 8 discs. (2 were 2-CD sets) Every time I tried to use them again I was told that I had already used that code. Maybe it's because I am new to the club. I haven't even received my introductory offer yet. You're never going to find a better deal on 29 discs again. If your codes work again for you I have a 3 disc set I'd like to pick up.

That early Jones stuff is devastating awesome. That's good to hear. I've liked George Jones ever since I heard his Anniversary: Ten Years of Hits. I've always liked that "old school" country, not what they're calling country today. I'm looking forward to giving it a listen. I just noticed you were a Minnesotan. I thought I was the only one here.
-
I was kind of fishing around to see if other codes would work and discovered that you can use J8E1 and J8E3 to get 1 free pick without having to order a selection.
-
I used one of the codes yesterday and the other one today. I attempted placing a third order (attempting both codes) but I was denied with a message noting that I had already used the code. I wanted one more order to pick up the Hank Williams singles collection! As it stands, I got some great CDs at a great price. 6 discs for $15.14 or $2.52 per disc! I still have to fulfill my membership for which I'll make jazz picks but I used these sale codes to pick up some non-jazz titles on the cheap. A bit of an eclectic mix, no?

Thanks, but they dont have what I want: * Ellington Small Groups * Boogie Woogie Piano/Blues * Bird Mosaic If you're not real anxious to have them soon you may want to wait it out. The Gillespie Mosaic didn't show up for quite a while and it's now available at deepdiscount.

The best prices you'll find on Mosaics are at deepdiscount.com.

Mine haven't shipped either. I have two orders in from the sale and they are certainly taking their sweet time in processing them. They must have a ton of orders to process.
