  1. Various - Pure Exotica, as Dug by Lux and Ivy (Righteous) Various - Total Exotica, as Dug by Lux and Ivy (Righteous) Fantastic album! Is that a UK pressing?
  2. It sure did. My first Fats Waller album was on Everest's Archive of Folk and Jazz series. It was made up of what sounded like acetates of his film performances.
  3. Thanks all for the replies. The Capitol part makes sense. Any idea how it ended up on Everest in the 1970s?
  4. Johnny Mathis - Ole (Mercury, mono)
  5. Gary Mac - Soft Samba (Verve, mono)
  6. Great music by Elmer Bernstein and Chico Hamilton. Verve released both albums on a single CD, but they deleted one track, "Jonalah," by Chico.
  7. Fear thee not! Roberta is in the Now Sound/Groovy section. Our vocal section has a distinctively pre-Beatles focus in terms of aesthetics, if not chronology.
  8. I think of this and Walking in Space as an inseparable pair.
  9. Marian McPartland - Bossa Nova + Soul (Time, mono) Fantastic album, especially when Marian plays the Wurly.
  10. Cannonball & the Bossa Rio Sextet (Capitol, stereo)
  11. Anyone know the story with this album? It was released on Riverside, Capitol - at least a few times, with different cover art - and even Everest(!). There may have been releases on Tower and Pickwick also. How did this one make the rounds to this degree, just because Bossa was big in the US for a hot minute? Also, veering off topic, is Everest the only instance of an audiophile label becoming a budget label?
  12. As @JSngry famously said when discussing Mingus's eggnog recipe, "When you see the cat using the toilet, you'll know you're not drunk!" Little ingrates!
  13. How funny. During the Middle Ages, back when Netflix would mail you a DVD in a red envelope, we ordered a Man from U.N.C.L.E. disc. We were at the time using our DVD player as a CD player also. I inadvertently returned to Netflix a CD I'd been listening to, and I believe I still have that U.N.C.L.E. DVD!
  14. Great film. It reminded me, in an oblique way, of Sideways. Something about the pacing, the characters, the relationships, and I'm sure the music too.
  15. Yes...except for a litter box in the hallway!
  16. Paulo Alencar - Jazza Nova (Atco, mono) Bonfa/Deodato - The Gentle Rain OST (Mercury, mono)
  17. Well, one week later, he is exclusively using the litter box now that it is in hallway. So, there must have been something about going through the cat door that he did not like. Thanks all for your replies and suggestions!
  18. I am obsessed with Axel Stordahl's 1960 Dot LP Jasmine and Jade.
  19. What did you think? I was overall disappointed in season 3. It felt like nothing happened, and that they were dragging everything out while nothing was happening. The best episode IMO was the one with Tina's backstory.
  20. The same chord progression fits under much of both tunes, at least the A and C sections. Not sure if both tunes were written that way, or if the melodies allow for similar chord patterns beneath.
  21. Thank you! In the short term, he is using the litter box since I placed it in the hallway, so that is at least working as a stop-gap until we can determine the underlying issue. 😹 👍
  22. It's a soft plastic flap. He just saunters through.
  23. That's what I'm starting to think. Arthritis, from a combination of age and having been declawed by his previous family. He has been using the litter box since I placed it at the end of the hallway. We'll see how things progress longterm.
