  1. I really LOVE his compositions on the Bobby Hutcherson albums Medina, Oblique, and Components. I must have other albums with Joe Chambers compositions but I don't have the time or patience to pull out every jazz record I own and look for them. What are some other albums that feature his compositions? I'm a sucker for that mid- to late-60s Blue Note sound, but of course I'm not limited to that. Suggestions?
  2. I am OBSESSED with Calvin's version of Cyril Scott's "Lotus Land" on a Columbia LP. It follows Cyril Scott's original score very closely, and is arranged for piano, vibes, bass and percussion. Gorgeous.
  3. Thanks, I'll try your suggestion and report back.
  4. Nothing schmaltzy about bongoes. I could name about 100 west coast rekkids WAY schmalzier than this one! lol.
  5. First Syd Barrett died, now a member of his backing group has. Sad.
  6. YES, I have Zacharle albums on both labels (with tracks deleted from the Wyncote issues).
  7. chewy, if you love "Jazz Heat Bongo Beat" as much as I think you do, then you need this album for side two. It is ostensibly a Getz & Gilberto knockoff album called "Girl from Ipanema" but side 2 is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN SIDE 1.
  8. This should be in the political forum, because this will have a far greater effect on your life than the upcoming election will.
  9. Greetings - I don't know if something changed with an iTunes update, but: On iTunes, I have my import preference set for wave files. When I record original music (using ProTools) and bounce it to my hard drive, wave is set as the default format. HOWEVER: When I bounce original music (choosing wave format) and tell it to save the finished file to iTunes (with wave as the preferred import format) it shows up in the folder as an mp3 file. In some ways, I am grateful for this, because it saves me a step in process if I deliberately want an mp3. But, I don't know why these aren't being saved as wave files when that's the setting on both programs. Thoughts?
  10. But wouldn't the time difference be evened-out in the return trip?
  11. Look at it in the grand scheme of things. It's not like you chose Sarah Palin for your running mate. And, yeah, have a mono LP fest!!!
  12. That sucks. I've been there. Do you have any CDs you can listen to in the mean time?
  13. See bees.
  14. God guns and guts made America. Let's keep all three, snug dog!
  15. To be or not on robot.
  16. Brothers and sisters have I none, madam, but this man's father is my father's son, Adam.
  17. Pro life pro America pro Palin.
  18. Smart fellows no smelt farts on trams.
  19. That's not a palindrome.
  20. No one knows who played on side 2 of this record?
  21. What's your beef with Dick Hyman? Electric Eclectics is one of thee greatest albums ever made.
  22. There are some other jazz sessions with Williams the composer on piano, but I don't recall what they are offhand. He also plays piano on Robert Drasnin's INCREDIBLE album "Voodoo" later re-released as "Percussion Exotique" on Topps. Williams's "Checkmate" album on Columbia is a solid crime-jazz LP.
  23. chewy, have you heard this record? Side 1 is half-baked Getz and Gilberto knockoffs, but side 2 is killer beatnik/bongo jazz.
  24. The album is called The Girl From Ipanema - Jimmy Davis & Norma Lee [1964] but the tracks on side 2 are by a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GROUP: Jasmine Five To Four Astrud Spanish Jazz Blues For Bill Side 2 is real "Jazz Heat Bongo Beat" kind of stuff. Who is this?
  25. I'm waiting for a proper re-release of "Jazz Goes to Day Care."
