  1. Yes, it was the younger crowd from the office.
  2. Have you read Tom Wolfe's piece about what hipsters were listening to in the pre-Beatles 1960s?
  3. Will it sound as good as the mono LP?
  4. Interesting take, Larry. I have one issue with Madmen, and that is this: I think the directors went too far to NOT make Don Draper's house look too mid-century futuristic Jetsons. I understand the rationale, but I think an upwardly mobile ad exec in 1960 would have had hipper, more moderne decor in his house than Draper does.
  5. I really loved the first season of this show and so far I've found the second season to be every bit as riveting. The show really captures both the good and bad of that era. Any watchers?
  6. ARTISTS FORUM, PLEASE.
  7. I'll remember him for his songwriting with David Porter and his appearances on The Rockford ("Rockfish") Files. RIP, Mr. Hayes. Artists forum, please.
  8. Pete Terrace - Cole Porter in Latin America - Tico (mono)
  9. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7552986.stm
  10. The Philadelphia Experiment.
  11. Hubler & Schwab - Vampyros Lebos (expanded) - Crippled Dick Hot Wax
  12. Before Andy Warhol was famous, he did the illustrations for the gatefold booklet with the Charles Munch/BSO recording of Ravel's "Daphnis et Chloe" on RCA.
  13. Franz Waxman - Sayanora - RCA (black dog mono) Hollywood postwar faux-orientalism at its best.
  14. Many of us would have taken you up on your offer, but now that we know you don't like Brubeck, we're worried that you'll think we're squares if we buy it.
  15. The Equals - Baby Come Back - RCA (yellow/orange label stereo but pre-dynaflex).
  16. Desmond Dekker and the Aces - Israelites - Uni (stereo) Desmond Dekker is the missing link between Johnny Mathis and Robin Gibb!
  17. Various - Jamaican Ska - Atlantic (red and purple mono). Probably the first ska collection released in the US, including Ken and Patsy, the Maytals, and others.
  18. Pete Best.
  19. . Interesting. My dad had dozens of acetates from his days in the biz. They all sat on a shelf beside all the LPs. He never played them. Years later, when we tried to transfer some things to tape, many were unplayable. Others sounded fine.
  20. Sergio Mendes & Brasil 77 - Primal Roots - A&M (mustard label, stereo). One of the more experimental albums by him, not unlike some of Airto's early 70s sessions.
