  1. look at this second press : sunday at the village vanguard
  2. Isn't that one a Liberty-era pressing? Yes it seem to...a liberty pressing with new old stock Lexington label. Trashed seams, and not even mint record.
  3. is it possible ? Yes everything is possible when it comes to Blue Note. (Who are those guys, by the way ?)
  4. VG++/+ : i'm not subtle enough to understand. I bet this one around 2 k (5 k will be for the next at Euclid, 5060 or Bullsite )
  5. The Blue Note hysteria will continue with this one
  6. 'Recession economy' for who? Ferrari has just announced this will be its best year since its foundation, go figure! or Obviously, the recession makes that riches get even richer, middle class struggle to remain the middle class, and poor get even poorer.
  7. Rumors are that a copy of this one sold for 12000 $ years ago at Paris Jazz Corner. True or false i don't know. I've seen another copy auctionned at PJC in their 2002 catalogue. Don't know how much it solds eventuelly. But given the hysteria that was surrounding those auctions i believe it went up very high. My plan is to try to find it at my local flea market, for around 1 €. 2 or even 3 would still be a fine price. Shit, that's nuts. I used to get those PJC catalogs but I guess they stopped producing them? I think so. Auctions are over. I have three (1999,2000 2002), i don't know if they made other auctions. But you can ask them through their site http://www.parisjazzcorner.com/

  9. And what about this one ? It won't sell, as the guy asks too much for bidding start. Bud anyway, here we have one of the true rarest jazz record.
  10. Hank Mobley Mobley's message Prestige 7061, DG yellow original NY label Anthony Braxton In the tradition Steeple chase 1015. Fine session with Tete Montoliu
  11. Seriously, i often spin my LP late at night. Everyone's sleeping, the daughter and the girl.
  12. One of my favourite nonsense moment is to tell my students an "USSR era" joke. I always say : "its a XXth century joke, no one of you will laugh". And this is exactly what happens.
  13. I remember, five years ago, in my beloved town of Nice, it was still possible to buy very fine records, (including top jazz rarities), in one of the three or four vinyl stores. I had good relationship with the owners, and was able to discover many interesting records. Also used to to trade ad sell some. All those record shop had resisted to the FNAC / VIRGIN invasion, because it was not the same market, obviously. But what made them eventually close was Ebay. For two reasons : one is that owners decided to sell the best stuff (if not the entire stuff) through internet ; other is that many non professionnal sellers willing to sell their records actually sell them directly through ebay, not to those shops. Everybody had good reasons to that, of course. The "Marché aux Puces" de Clignancourt, in Paris, is still a good place to find interesting records, anyway. If if you shop every week, you will always find something for your taste. (If you accept to forget about any smile, or sympathy from a seller : we are in France )
  14. ...And sometimes it is really a goldmine....Everytime i shop at Gibert's second hand department, i wonder : " how can one can get rid of this ! and this ! and this ! and this ! . ? "
  15. Last year i was in Paris, looking for some Weldon Irvine records in CD. I asked for them to the owner of a shop where i regularly buy soul/ funk/ jazz CD's. (He's a knowledgeable seller : i've already bought many records from him, following his advice, and was rarely disapointed. And he sells fine vinyl, too). There was no Weldon Irvine CD in the bins. The guy looked at his computer screen and told me : i can order them for you...let's see...the price will be 15 €...no... let's say 13 € each, add 3 € for shipping to your location. I was about about to say "okay, let's go, please order for me", when, by changing my angle of view, i noticed that the guy was actually browsing Ebay shops listings.
  16. Neither of these have made my collection yet so now is probably the time if at all. I'm a Jackie fan, should I be without either of these? You want both. Right Now is essential, among the best Jackie I've heard. I would put Jacknife in the second tier of JM recordings, but it's still very good. Guy Buy right now right now, period. That is something you'll never forget.
  17. i don't know how many of them i own. The most important is have the two Don Byas.
  18. Today : Johnny Griffin "Do Nothin till you hear from me" Riverside 462 DG blue label. Fine session with Monk montgomery.
  19. Do you have the 3 CD edition ? I think it is the complete edition of the three concerts. Very interestig...(but the best versions of each song are on the original vinyl edition, IMO)
