  1. If you're running, you're putting your foot down with far greater force than if you're simply walking. Hence, stomp. And yes, accidental. Why do you insist on making something out of nothing in almost every conversation you're involved in?
  2. Because both freaked out and tried to escape and the owl got stomped by Walt as he was trying to flee.
  3. I will stand partially corrected. Disney historian Jim Korkis did say that he once saw a video interview of Walt describing a moment in his childhood where he wanted to play with an owl he'd found, and when it went batshit he ended up accidentally stomping on it during the dual exit strategy melee. So, there was an owl, a Walt, and a death. So I guess ol' Paul was simply giving us the Hollywood dramatization of the events.
  4. And NOW you know... the rest of the story.
  5. Oh, no question. Text book delivery and voice. There should be a compulsory Paul Harvey course for anyone looking to get into broadcasting. Though I will say that I learned early on that The Rest of the Story was likely more fiction than fact when he told the story of this little boy that was kept awake by an owl every night, to the point of frustration that made him catch and kill the owl. Then when he realized what he’d done, with tears streaming down his face, he swore he’d never harm another living creature ever again, and do whatever he could to protect and exult them. That boy’s name? Walter Elias Disney. Problem being that the story is complete bullshit. None of that ever happened to a young Walt Disney. Didn’t change my opinion of him, but it did clue me that some, if not all of those stories were fabrications for the sake of great storytelling.
  6. I doubt the majority of people watching the Super Bowl when the excellent “God Made a Farmer” commercial came on knew he was the narrator.
  7. Cosby was convicted, so that's a slightly different story. Most people are unable/unwilling to separate the art from the artist, which I completely understand. As I said, I take the opposite route, but that's strictly a personal decision on my part.
  8. Well, let’s not be hasty. It’s not really the “rest” of the story. Something we’ll never really get. You can’t truly get the rest of the story with the lead actor having exited stage left. We’ll get unsubstantiated asides, and maybe some spinoff series, but that’s it. Michael Jackson’s story was cancelled and taken off the air without a season finale.
  9. Couldn't have said any of that better myself. And in this modern world of microwavable outrage, it shouldn't take long. The next trigger is right around the corner, and oh, hey, he really had some great tunes, didn't he? *global group hug*
  10. Not to mention the Dixie Chicks fiasco. But, since dead men cannot defend themselves, I'll forego the knee-jerk reactions brought about by the new documentary. Not to mention that I will continue to be very diligent in separating the art from the artist.
  11. But he freely admits that he stressed the hell out of it with current hungry tubes and playing at a loud volume for several hours. If it hadn’t gotten really hot that would have been surprising. So that may not be the best example. Did you have current hungry tubes in your amp? Or do you know?
  12. That and the excessive heat thing are both claims I don't believe I've ever heard before. I believe that is what he experienced, as he'd have no motivation to lie about it. But it does seem as though his experience was unique.
  13. Kevin, were the speakers you were driving inefficient? Do you think that may have played into the excessive heat? I have to admit that while I've talked to a lot of tube users, I've never heard any of them mentioning heat as an issue. Perhaps your amps were simply struggling to power your speakers?
  14. But, Kevin. How do you REALLY feel about tube amps.
  15. This I could not agree with more. While I’ve certainly not done a scientific study, I’d wager that European-style Free Improvisation outpaces modern Classical as well. Bloop
  16. Holy moly... I counted one whole actual Classical station. That’s too bad. My father was a huge fan of the original Live365. I’ll have to ask him if he still uses it.
  17. For the money they are paying him, I doubt he’ll be much more than a player/coach that sees limited snaps on crucial third downs, and goaline situations. My guess is they are grooming him to be a coordinator/coach.
  18. Ah, I wasn’t aware of that. Did the format actually change? They really don’t clarify.
  19. There is no “etc.”. Pandora is the only streaming service I’m aware of that has incredibly low sound quality. Their highest quality setting is an embarrassing 192kbps mp3. That’s 90’s Napster-like quality. Conversely, Apple Music is 256kbps AAC VBR, Spotify (with subscription) is 320kbps Ogg Vorbis, Google Music is 320kbps up to ALAC, and Tidal is 320kbps AAC up to FLAC/ALAC as well. These will all sound no different than CD. So please do not assume that Pandora is an example of all streaming services. It is most definitely not. Hmmm... If you and RT are looking more for a radio style experience, have you tried things like Live 365 or Slacker?
  20. Both Spotify and Apple Music have enormous catalogs. I rarely cannot find something I’m looking for. Their Free Jazz and Free Improvisation offerings are surprisingly stellar. Those are artist royalties. Pretty sure they have to pay the recod companies licensing fees. And I don’t have an answer concerning composers. Chuck would likely know the answer, if you can somehow squeeze it out of him.

  22. Especially when using tube amps, as most tend to be very low in power. I wonder if Kevin was trying to push 4ohm speakers, for example, and that led to the heat issue.
  23. Yes, acceptance that they actually CAN’T hear a difference between high bitrate advanced audio codecs and CD.
  24. I definitely want to check this out when I get a chance to sit down with my headphones. I’m curious as to what Wynton had to say since this album was brought up by Crouch several times in his rinse and repeat liner notes for Blood On The Fields.
