  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chav Ah! Dumb-ass wannabes! I got it now....
  2. It's not a Liberty pressing, it actually looks identical to the one in the picture. One of my all-time favorite albums! The nice thing about the vinyl is there are no drop-outs during Amanda (the master tapes are damaged).
  3. I still don't know what a chav is....
  4. Another excellent Conn twofer.

    Bennie Maupin

In my estimation, Caramba is a GREAT album...there is an incredible vibe on that record. Maupin is particularly inspired and one of the main reasons I rate this album so highly.
  6. An impossible task to pick a "single" favorite saxophone performance...but my initial gut reaction was this...
  7. Couldn't tell you, since about 90% of those images have dead links.
  8. Especially if the cab driver's a jazz fan...

    Junior Mance

I really don't consider Mance to be a "blues" player, I think he's a "bluesy" player (a big difference IMO). Blues doesn't have to be innovative...it just has to be "felt".
  10. I'm a raving Stanley Turrentine fan, but honestly...Blue Hour (while I definitely dig it) is probably one of the least-played Mr "T" albums in my collection. Most played is probably Look Out. Another late-night listen for me is Grant Green - Street Of Dreams...

    Junior Mance

    Oh yeah...that's a FUN album!
  12. Not very many! Jazz falls into the same category as B&W movies, vinyl records, VCRs, etc. Outmoded, outdated and largely forgotten... (yes, it's a generalization...but it's not too farfetched)
  13. Sonny's Dream is easily one of my favorite recordings. For small group recordings, this is the shit...
  14. Mono Blue Note, have no idea what pressing it is (the one pictured isn't mine).
  15. Thanks buddy...I'm not worried about scratches, that's what they make Soundforge for!
  16. One of my favorite covers...because it's on one of my all-time favorite records! It sounds nice transferred from the mono Blue Note vinyl too...
  17. I think "Free Jazz" is actually a new term used by Spanish record labels that reissue 50 year copyrighted material....
  18. River Phoenix Muddy Waters Veronica Lake
  19. Definitely a classic! How High The Moon...baby!
  20. Johnny Hodges is right where he should be on the list...
  21. I don't have any problems in this area these days...not enough disposable income...
  22. Kenny Burrell - Both Feet On The Ground (Fantasy 1973) Kenny Burrell - Up The Street, Round The Corner, Down The Block (Fantasy 1974) Okay, I've been searching for these albums in any format I can get (LP, CD, CDR, MP3, 8-Track, whatever). If anyone can help me out...before I walk out into traffic...send me a PM.
  23. Just for the record, I'm not actually a fan of Living Colour (although I like a few tunes, Open Letter To A Landlord, Solace In You), I just thought it was relevant to the conversation.
  24. Even though the "complete" is inaccurate...I still really enjoy this set, it's a nice one-stop shop for a magnificent recording legacy.
