  1. I have a King pressing and a 70s era blue label pressing. The King is preferred but the 70s pressing is an acceptable alternative.
  2. America's Greatest Jazzmen (Coleman Hawkins, Tommy Flanagan, Willis Jackson, Gene Ammons, Ted Curson, Dave Pike) Play The Broadway Scene (Prestige Moodsville) Jimmy Rowles, The Paws that Refresh (Choice)(
  3. Bunk Johnson, The King of the Blues (American Music)
  4. I didn't realize that A Fireside Chat with Lucifer had previously been reissued.
  5. The reissue of A Fireside Chat with Lucifer (on CD and LP) is imminent. https://sunra-mh.bandcamp.com/album/a-fireside-chat-with-lucifer
  6. Rokia Traore, Wanita (Label Bleu)
  7. I am highly pleased. It is an excellent performance and the sound is good. Recorded by the unknown Jack Towers of high school custodians.
  8. Monk, Palo Alto (Impulse)
  9. Received my copy of the Monk CD from Amazon UK in the mail today.
  10. Christian Scott, Axiom (Stretch Music)
  11. Count Basie, Hall of Fame (Verve) Chick Corea, Bliss (Muse) (aka, Pete LaRoca, Turkish Women at the Bath) I haven't heard the original Douglas LP, but this Muse reissue has quite fine sound.
  12. The depth of your collection is impressive. I typically only have heard about two of the records you list each week. (This week the two Cecil McBees and the Kenny Wheeler).
  13. Vernon Reid, David Torn, Elliott Sharp, Guitar Oblique (Knitting Factory)
  14. Ralph Towner and John Abercrombie, Sargasso Sea (ECM) Jimmy Cleveland, Rhythm Crazy (Emarcy) Duke Ellington, Jazz Violin Sessions (Atlantic) Bud Shank, This Bud's For You (Muse) Fela, Teacher Don't Teach Me Nonsense (Philips Nigeria)
  15. That''s a great one. The first Gilmore that captivated me was on Nothing Is--Dancing Shadows.
  16. Eberhard Weber, Yellow Fields (ECM)
  17. That is not even original, as Prestige Records had a Plays for Lovers series.
  18. Terje Rypdal, To Be Continued (ECM) Collin Walcott, Cloud Dance (ECM)
  19. Your methodology (one leader selection only) seems biased in favor of prolific sidemen as opposed to leaders who rarely record as a sideman.
  20. Gregg August, Dialogues on Race This bassist/composer's set at Winter JazzFest (an eternity ago) in January was an unexpected highlight, and this new CD reflects what I heard. https://www.jazzspeaks.org/dialogues-on-race-gregg-august-speaks/ https://jazztimes.com/reviews/albums/gregg-august-dialogues-on-race-volume-1-iacuessa/

  23. The performance is great. Hyperspeed Bird. Sound is decent. Probably not worth it if you have the CD The Washington Concerts.
  24. Charlie Parker, Jazz at Midnite (Blue Note) Machito, Asia Minor (Forum/Roulette) Cannonball Adderley, Them Dirty Blues (Riverside)
  25. The same group (Francisco Mora Catlett; Alex Harding, Sam Newsome, Aruin Ortiz, Ramon Diaz, Rahsaan Carter) played in Dallas a few years ago; a free concert at the Latino Cultural Center in Deep Elllum, a venue that never has jazz, so kind of inexplicable.
