  3. Tony Scott--Music for Zen Meditation (Verve)
  4. I liked their second album; the first one, not too much. But I would buy the LP of either for .99.
  5. Newport '58 (Dinah Washington, Terry Gibbs) (Emarcy)
  6. Anthony Braxton a great? Hardly. I listen to and enjoy everyone else on the list.
  7. This is from Jason Moran's website: October 16 Houston, Texas Cullen Theater Charles Lloyd New Quartet October 17 Austin, Texas TBA Charles Lloyd New Quartet
  8. The Last Train to Clarksville awaits.
  9. I found a Mercury Living Presence Janos Starker recording on LP just a week or so ago. Unfortunately not the Bach--rather Dvorak and Bruch--with Antal Dorati and the London Symphony Orchestra--still pretty nice and a great sounding LP.
  10. Oops. Forgot about that thread.
  11. Having become addicted to buying classical LPs, since they seem to be available in relative abundance, in excellent condition, and at modest prices, I was curious for opinions on what labels made the best records, sound-wise. My personal favorites: London (the ones with the blueback labels sound the best, but I also quite like the heavy 1950s era LPs). Mercury Living Presence. RCA Living Stereo Columbia (six eyes and two eyes) Archiv (the ones with the plain tan covers). Any other highly recommended labels?
  12. Last night, Lucky Peterson at Pearls. It's been a long time since Dallas had a decent blues club. Finally.
  13. Live at the Lighthouse and Live at Club Mozambique are the two that I really like.

The Body Meta booklet discography references some "private tapes" of the Moffett, Izenson group: Oct. 1965 (Berlin Jazz Festival) Feb. 1966 (New York City) March 1967, adding Charlie Haden on second bass (Village Theater, New York).

My Dancing in Your Head LP says copyright 1977, and my Body Meta LP says copyright 1978. Both were recorded in December of 1976.

This is off-topic but wasn't there a disc on A&M that was sort of an archival release? A supplement to - I think - "Dancing in Your Head"? (I'm not a completist of his music post 1970 or so... and before, my collection has various gaps, too) You are probably thinking of the Artists House LP Body Meta.
  17. I've been in that "real world" you're talking about. Believe me, it's overrated. You want to stay away from it. I agree, an imaginary world beats the real world most of the time.
  18. Larry Coryell and the Brubeck Brothers--Better Than Live (Direct Disc Labs) The sound reproduction on this Direct to Disc recording is fantastic. On the plus side, Larry Coryell is in top form on this recording and is virtually in the room with you. On the minus side, the keyboard playing Brubeck brother is also in the room with you, doing his poor man's Jan Hammer.
  19. Butterfield Blues Band--Golden Butter (Elektra) Freddie Hubbard---Skagly (Columbia)
  20. This certainly is another excellent Bunky Green recording, after all these years. A fine backing group as well.
  21. Dustygroove has some of these MPS reissues now for only $8.99 each.
  22. Fats Waller--Fractious Fingering (RCA Vintage Series)
  23. Is that George Duvivier on the mystery session?
  24. Palmetto is a great label, in addition to the Bobby Previte's the Frank Kimbrough and Ben Allison releases are wonderful. I have a couple of the Frank Kimbrough releases and they are good--I haven't heard Ben Allison yet.
  25. Arrived in yesterday's mail.
