  4. Another belated Happy Birthday! Hope it was good, tooter!
  5. I couldn't find an existing thread, and if one exists, I apologize. I just got this and am really enjoying it. With DeJohnette/Metheny/Hancock/Mehldau/Patitucci. Brecker's playing great, he doesn't sound "impaired" in the least (he plays mostly tenor, very little EWI). DeJohnette's playing his ass off (as are the rest). Nice tunes, a great session. Guys who love to play together for sure. I'm still very sad Brecker's no longer with us, but his last recording is excellent IMHO. I don't know if there was a sense of "this may be the last" at the session (there must have been to some extent), but there seems to be a very soulful vibe throughout.
  6. Great to see those guys! How's young John Young doing these days? EDIT: BTW, I did several of the arrangements for Jodie's Front Line date. FWIW.
  7. I highly recommend this Jazz Icons DVD. Dizzy in 1958 with Stitt, Ray Brown, Lou Levy and Gus Johnson. Also a set from 1970 with the Clarke/Boland big band. The band is exceptionally tight and really nails the music. Ronnie Scott also plays his ass off.
  8. Upon further reflection I'd have to say it was pretty lame the way they let Sylar get away. First, you'd have thought that they would have made SURE he was dead. This is a well-worn plot device that allows the villian to be defeated AND survive for future episodes. Not very imaginative. Second, it's hard to believe that Sylar was able to crawl away to the manhole unnoticed. You'd think that much attention would have been focused upon him- after the blast, not much else was happening. Also, the way Hiro teleported to twenty feet or so from Sylar and was able to RUN to stab him. Suddenly Sylar's reaction time was VERY S L O W. It would have been better for Hiro to teleport himself forward (towards Sylar) and materialize with the blade already in Sylar. Hiro should have carved him up a bit more. Anyway, I guess you could find many flaws like this is you wanted to, but all in all I thought it was a pretty imaginative series for a network project. I just hate those damn commercials.
  9. She's a walking candy apple! That episode had enough going on in it to make 3 shows. "Never seen that before.......bird fly into a woman's head."
  10. Well, I hope the new briefs have the "ball waiting" feature. If not, my opinion will be "tainted".
  11. Well, I have to admit I've gotten interested in this show. I started taping it and have been keeping up with it. I guess it's probably because I'm still a comics junkie. So, to those who were following the series, what did you think of the finale? I thought it was OK, although I was able to guess (fairly correctly) the outcome, partially from all the previews. I predicted that 1) Sylar would survive to return again and 2) that Nathan would turn out to be a good guy. I'll be curious to see if they can sustain the creativity and interest in the next season. I'm not sure that they will, but it was fun this time around. Actually, one of the most interesting things was the extended preview of the upcoming Fantastic Four film. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the Silver Surfer. I wonder if Galactus will make an appearance.........
  12. I avoid green meat. Also blue meat. That's worked out pretty well.
  13. If not, then what a way to go out!
  14. Too bad Anthony Braxton isn't participating. That would be a great reunion. EDIT: (not to imply it won't be a great event as is!)
  15. This may be my biggest pet peeve with my wife - its like she's incapable of wringing out a sponge. Like you never know when there will be a sponge emergency, so you better keep it wet at all times. I put sponges in the microwave for a short time (like 15-20 seconds). I've heard that's a good way to keep the bacteria to a minimum.
  16. South Parkissimo! It was Joe that gave it away.
  17. I'll be using "professional" movers for my move to Florida. The difference between that that the short across-town type of move is that you have to uber-pack EVERYTHING when it's going on The Truck. When I moved across town I was able to take several loads in the car and not have to pack every single thing. It's going to be a huge pain to make this move, but believe me, I'm not complaining (much). It's all about the job baby, and I'm glad to have something in place for my future (can you say "health insurance"?) But moving to Florida in JULY, OMG! Greasy Sack Blues aplenty.
  18. Well, we already knew he likes "Barbara Ann".
  19. It was already repressed once.
  20. Bill Evans' audition itinerary.
  21. I hope not. It was WAY TOO HARD for me. Apparently.
