  1. Wow, 9:20 to 3:00, those are some long-ass gigs. Man, the 4-hour current gig length (3 sets) seems like a long time, much less 5 hours and 40 minutes- even with the breaks, those guys had some serious endurance (for playing AND drinking)! Thanks for posting those, jazzshrink!
  2. ................or maybe Pam wakes up and finds Bobby in the shower and realizes she dreamed the whole thing.....oh, wait.......
  3. Hey man, who you callin' a HO?
  4. Tonight I have a night off so I'm going to make green chili chicken enchiladas, which are a bit labor-intensive, but I enjoy the project by consuming several "adult beverages" and listening to tunes while cooking. I usually roll 'em up the traditional way, but tonight I'm making more of a lasagna-type casserole and layering the corn tortillas, green chili and cheese (and even using some ricotta ). A little chopped cilantro on top and we're in business. And don't forget the chipotle! Cheers!
  5. Yes, threads like this one always end up costing me money. But it hurts sooooo good......
  6. Memorable Vonnegut quote: "The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something."
  7. Sorry to hear he's gone. I've enjoyed many of his books over the years (and have reread several of them many times).
  8. So does this mean you're now to be known as "etanargemopgnilkrapsezzi"? I hope not.....
  9. Well, the members of this board are certainly doing their part to keep Newbury in business! (I know I am!)
  10. Happy Birthday BM! I just picked this DVD up, I'll have to give it a listen tonight!
  11. I saw this group when I was in high school, probably around the time of the Romantic Warrior record. I remember they had big mirrors above Lenny's kit so you could see his amazing feats, kind of like the old cooking shows. This was at a small college, and I also remember that being the first time I ever smelled pot smoke.
  12. Wow, it was cool to see and hear that again! I remember it well. It's got that period sound of the bass being played w/a pick (like on the Munsters theme, pretty much any Don Knotts movie, etc.). Susan Saint James was hot back then! I sure noticed, even if Rock Hudson didn't! edit: also, nice to hear the classic voice-over guy at the end.
  13. Wow, that's cool, Mark. So did the apple fall far from the tree?
  14. My dog has been on a natural meat and vegetable diet for quite awhile (5 years or so). He's doing very well. He will be living with my ex-wife; that is currently the saddest part of the divorce (when there are no kids the pets take that role). She will take very good care of him, but I will sure miss him. He's better off with her since she now owns our house with the big backyard, and her schedule doesn't include all the travel that I have to do. I go visit him regularly (I will do so until I move to Florida in July) and he's always glad to see me. I have pictures of him on my cell phone and computer. I just love that dog so much! Sorry for the off-topic.......
  15. Amazon CDUniverse (both pricey, but available- I'm assuming you probably already looked at those sites) I'd never heard of this one. It looks pretty interesting!
  16. I love 'em all (cashews are my favorite), but lately I've been eating more walnuts and almonds (good for alkaline/acid balance) which I buy raw and roast in the oven- they are soooooo tasty that way. I just made some banana bread w/the walnuts and it was excellent.
  17. H a P p Y b I r T h D a Y l A z A r O ! ! ! Is there a Bizzaro Lazaro? (I didn't know there was an "H" in "wackiness")
  18. This is cool, we should have a thread about shows you watched when you were a kid. I grew up with the Captain and Mr. Green Jeans. Since I grew up in Iowa, I also was a fan of Floppy. Anyone here hip to Floppy? It was a kid's show with cartoons and all that, but I used to hear stories about Duane Ellett going to parties (with Floppy) where he would get wasted and have Floppy tell dirty jokes. Scandalous! How about Mack and Myer For Hire? I barely remember that one. Bill Riley's Talent Search? How about the Butter Cow at the Iowa State Fair? Not a show, but a definite memory from childhood.
  19. It was great to finally meet Brother Joe and Sister Rachel in person. Both as lovely and charming as expected. Rooster and Spontooneous made it to the KC gig. Thanks as always, guys! It was sure a fun weekend- thanks for coming, folks! I appreciate your support.
