  1. The truth is out there......
  2. H a P p Y b I r T h D a Y j I m ! ! !
  3. "Gee whiz, Mr. Wizard, that was swell!" "Yes, that it was, Skippy, that it was. Say, Skippy, have you ever seen a grown man naked?"
  4. Congrats, Glenn. I'm sure it will be a great party! I'm sorry I couldn't make it. All the best to both of you! Cheers! -_- :rsmile: (hopefully that guy on the right won't cause any problems)
  5. Well, Joe, have fun and try not to fuck up!
  6. Kalo-watts.
  7. Is the "In & Out" chain as good as "they" say?
  8. Live at Fillmore and Tears of Joy are a couple favorites. I also like Autumn, although I'm not sure it's available on CD, maybe as an import.
  9. How about some ground moose lasagna?
  10. Shouldn't this be in the classical music forum? (maybe if we do this enough times it might facilitate things)
  11. Yes, but true to form it will be facing away from the crowd.
  12. Blue cheese-stuffed grilled burgers do NOT suck! Speaking of stuffed things, I also love green olives stuffed w/blue cheese. Also olives stuffed with garlic cloves. I'm curious to try the freshly-ground meat thing- I've always just used packaged ground beef. Can't you just pick out a couple steaks and have the butcher at the store grind them up for you? Doesn't seem like it would be a big deal.
  13. I'm curious about this one. Many said it didn't live up to its potential (the Herbie/Ron/Tony rhythm section, plus as I understand it they don't play on every cut). I've almost bought it several times, but have not yet succumbed.
  14. I'm glad to hear the Bop Stop is still in existence. It had just closed when I moved from the area and there was uncertainty as to whether it would ever re-open. Is it in a decent location? How are the acoustics and the look of the place?
  15. A belated but heartfelt Happy Birthday, rachel!
  16. Happy Birthday, Larry!
  17. A belated Happy birthday, David!
  18. Another belated Happy Birthday! Hope it was good, tooter!
  19. I couldn't find an existing thread, and if one exists, I apologize. I just got this and am really enjoying it. With DeJohnette/Metheny/Hancock/Mehldau/Patitucci. Brecker's playing great, he doesn't sound "impaired" in the least (he plays mostly tenor, very little EWI). DeJohnette's playing his ass off (as are the rest). Nice tunes, a great session. Guys who love to play together for sure. I'm still very sad Brecker's no longer with us, but his last recording is excellent IMHO. I don't know if there was a sense of "this may be the last" at the session (there must have been to some extent), but there seems to be a very soulful vibe throughout.
  20. Great to see those guys! How's young John Young doing these days? EDIT: BTW, I did several of the arrangements for Jodie's Front Line date. FWIW.
  21. I highly recommend this Jazz Icons DVD. Dizzy in 1958 with Stitt, Ray Brown, Lou Levy and Gus Johnson. Also a set from 1970 with the Clarke/Boland big band. The band is exceptionally tight and really nails the music. Ronnie Scott also plays his ass off.
  22. Upon further reflection I'd have to say it was pretty lame the way they let Sylar get away. First, you'd have thought that they would have made SURE he was dead. This is a well-worn plot device that allows the villian to be defeated AND survive for future episodes. Not very imaginative. Second, it's hard to believe that Sylar was able to crawl away to the manhole unnoticed. You'd think that much attention would have been focused upon him- after the blast, not much else was happening. Also, the way Hiro teleported to twenty feet or so from Sylar and was able to RUN to stab him. Suddenly Sylar's reaction time was VERY S L O W. It would have been better for Hiro to teleport himself forward (towards Sylar) and materialize with the blade already in Sylar. Hiro should have carved him up a bit more. Anyway, I guess you could find many flaws like this is you wanted to, but all in all I thought it was a pretty imaginative series for a network project. I just hate those damn commercials.
  23. She's a walking candy apple! That episode had enough going on in it to make 3 shows. "Never seen that before.......bird fly into a woman's head."
