  1. Just read on another board that he has been found. It seems that he is in a hospital in serious condition. I don't yet know if it was an accident, health issue, etc. I'll see what I can find out, or if anyone else hears something, please share it with us. Obviously our best wishes/thoughts/prayers go out to Mr. Stephens.
  2. Welcome, DC! Now you need to getcherself an avatar. My feelings as well.
  3. ...as do Stuff Smith and Eddie Costa.
  4. Believe me, I was happy to do it. I'm procrastinating when I should be cleaning the garage.
  5. h A p P y B i R t H d A y S o U l S t R e A m ! ! ! ! :rsmile: :rsmile: :rsmile: :rsly: :rsly: :rsly:
  6. Just curious, Allen, who you think is playing on the last cut, 52nd Street. The liners credit Max but several here (including Chuck, Sangrey and Lon) think it's Sid. That's my guess as well. What do you think?
  7. He was great in Star Wars. Didn't know he played guitar though.
  8. "Caution! Coffee is hot!" Ya think? Remember that case?
  9. I like that they put directions on shampoo. And those desiccants that come packed in things that say "do not eat". I guess they have to cover their ass legally, but you wonder if it came about because some moron ate the desiccants or couldn't figure out how to use shampoo.
  10. We should probably start a separate thread for this, but has anyone checked out Tim Ries' new "music of the Rolling Stones" side? I just got it (and haven't yet listened), more because I'm a fan of Tim's than the Stones. I thought it was funny, the label on the CD referred to him as "Rolling Stones saxophonist" Tim Ries. Damned by faint praise.
  11. I could never understand, what's the big fucking deal about the toilet seat being left up, down, or removed? Before 'I' take a squirt, I notice where the toilet seat is. I place it in the necessary position, whatever that might be, before I do my business. Know what I mean? ← Wes, wes, wes. It's hard to explain. It's just the way it is. I used to think exactly as you do, BEFORE I got married. You're right, of course, but that doesn't matter. Married guys, a little help? I have a friend whose wife makes him sit to pee. Might as well just put the 'sticles in a jar on the mantle. And no, the "friend" isn't me.
  12. She used to wonder what the hell I was doing here so much, but after we had brunch with the Nessas, Rooster and Eric this spring she realizes that there are some pretty interesting people here. Oh yeah, and Wiezy last year in D.C. Quite a nice fellow, contrary to what many of you may think. Of course, Mrs. FFA is in Santa Fe all summer playing for the opera, so she doesn't know what the hell I'm doing here at home. Toilet seats left up, hot dogs for breakfast and 24-hour porn! That was fun for about a day. Did I mention she takes the dog with her? Pretty quiet around here.
  13. ← What's the deal TM, you trying to start an anti-J.J. lobby?
  14. Have you checked them out yet, Mike? I still find a lot of mistakes, although not nearly as many as before.
  15. There was a thread on this long ago, but I couldn't find it. Volumes 1 and 2 are out now. They did fix some major problems that plagued the previous versions, but there are still quite a few mistakes, so their claim of it being "corrected" is not 100% accurate. For example, Lament is a mess change-wise. It's too bad they had to leave some classic tunes out, assumedly because of copyright issues. Still, it's great collection of tunes and they did keep the look similar to the old one. Whats's the verdict? "Handy resource" or "corporate oppor-TUNE-ism"?
  16. Include an extra "that", or leave it out? "...although you'd thing that that would be a logical use..." ← Of that I'm not sure. Of.
  17. Although there is a very nice version of this tune on a Bill Evans solo recording. Agreed, though, that it has great potential for corniness.
  18. piqued/peaked As in "It piqued his curiousity". (not peaked, although you'd think that would be a logical use of the latter)
  19. Interesting thing about the changes to All Blues- Most people play it like a regular blues, meaning since it's in G you would go to the IV chord in the fifth bar, which would be a C7. I think the "correct" chord there is actually instead a G minor 7 (or G minor 6). The bass ostinato at that point would support that. Not a lot of difference between a G minor 7 and a C7, but it's a subtle difference that changes the way one plays on the tune IMHO.
  20. Dumpy Mama (Sonny Stitt)
  21. Have fun with your johnson. I enjoy mine frequently. I never get tired of it.
  22. On Milestones he played piano on one tune (I think it was Sid's Ahead, correct me if I'm wrong, folks), not sure why Red wasn't there, maybe he was late to the session. You notice no one is comping when Miles is playing trumpet.
