Moment's Notice (John Coltrane)
Moment's Delight (Erroll Garner)
The Moment (Kenny Barron)
Magic Moment (Stan Kenton)
The Moment of Truth (Gerald Wilson)
Next up: MELODY
Excellent news and excellent music. It's pretty amazing to discover more Hawk
The 'Georgia' is a gem! Hope somebody will be able to doctor its sound (and the rest of the tracks).
The preservation of this music was partly due to the late (and dearly missed) Otto Fluckiger whom I paid a very friendly visit in the late '50s!
I have a similar Status LP. The cover is brownish colored instead of the bluish original New Jazz cover.
The Status releases came without the standard inner sleeves. At least the ones I saw when they came out.
The Status label that is releasing Stan Kenton material has nothing to do with the original Status. It is a British label.
Minor Move (Tina Brooks)
Minor Riff (Fletcher Henderson)
Minor Encamp (Max Roach)
The Minor Goes Muggin' (Duke Ellington)
The Major and the Minor (Earl Bostic)
Next up: VICTORY
Sam Rivers playing with the Cecil Taylor Unit (Cecil Taylor, Jimmy Lyons, Rivers and Andrew Cyrille at the Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul de Vence, France, in July 1969.
A photo I took during one of the concerts:
Where or When (Art Tatum)
Where Did You Stay Last Night? (King Oliver)
Where Am I? (Mezz Mezzrow)
Where Are You? (Ben Webster)
Where is Love? (Irene Kral)
Next up: WINNER
This one really hurts!
Heard him and met him several times (when he played with Cecil Taylor and at Rivbea).
A great musician and a gentleman!
He will be missed...
The session was produced by Francis Wolff who supervised the whole thing during a trip to France.
Another Wolff Produced album was Dexter Gordon's 'Our Man in Paris' with Bud Powell. Recorded in Paris during another Wolff's trip. Mastered by RVG even if his name does not appear on the back cover. The original LP has the VanGelder stamp.
