  1. Out this month, first batch of releases from another label Poll Winners(from Britain?) making full use of the EU 50-year copyright limit! Among their first releases: Just what everybody's been waiting for... a reissue of 'Kind of Blue'
  2. Did Ornette record anything else for the label? Sounds like good fodder for Mosaic's first Ornette project Yes - Body Meta and a sideman appearance on Blood Ulmer's Tales of Captain Black. Good stuff, and I think both are in print on CD. The discography in the liner notes also indicate another unreleased album for the label by Ornette Coleman 'The Quartet', recorded in December 1976 with Don Cherry, Charlie Haden and Billy Higgins
  3. I have a pre-Liberty BN Sidewinder mono copy. No deepgroove. Vangelder stamps on the deadwax. It came with the regular BN innersleeve of the time with all those stampsize images of BN releases. The sleeve celebrated "25 Years Blue Note' (1939-1964).
  4. Ornette Coleman 'Soapsuds, Soapsuds' (Artists House) Very good album. Too bad the label went down before they could release the June 1977 Ornette session with Don Cherry, Dewey Redman, James Blood Ulmer, David Izenzon, Buster Williams, Ed Blackwell, Billy Higgins and others that is mentioned - among others - in the accompanying booklet inserted in the LP.
  5. Thanks, Niko! The sound is better too!
  6. My favorites Willis Jackson are the Prestige albums he recorded with Jack McDuff and Bill Jennings... Those people were smokin'
  7. Red Garland 'Bright and Breezy' (Jazzland Japan, stereo)

  11. It's a 3-LP set issued in 1979 on the Hat Hut label.
  12. From today's edition of The Morning Call. Hajdu's latest book ''Heroes and Villains: Essays on Music, Movies, Comics and Culture.'' may win him a National Book Critics Circle Award for criticism. His 'Lush Life' is one of the best book on jazz I have read in recent years.
  13. Wonderful it was when purchased... wonderful it remains!
  14. Came out on vinyl and was never reissued. I grabbed my set during its brief visit on Earth!
