Not my favorite Konitz-Solal from what I remember but I have not played this for quite a while. Don' remember this as being up to the 'Star Eyes' level! I like 'Jazz a Juan' (SteepleChase) and 'Satori' (Milestone) much better than the Cam discs. Also the 'Duplicity' twofer on Horo. But this one should be hard to get by now! Informatively Martial Solal was in a Paris recording studio this week, making a new album for CamJazz. A duo date with Dave Douglas!

Great news! It could not have happened to a better man Hearty congratulations Hope you will have time to keep posting here!

'Our Thing', ' Una Mas', 'Basra' and 'The State of the Tenor' are favorites! Among others. Henderson was an incredibly consistent player when he was recording for BN...

A day early on the Miles Blue Moods session, Brownie! And I thought Dizzy's Newport appearance was July 6th; for July 8 I have him in the studio recording tracks for Big Band Sound, reissued on Birk's Works (Verve) Rosco, you rule! The Gillespie record session was a regular one, not the Newport date. That Newport album was playing in my head when I typed the day's sessions. And the Miles session for Debut will be relisted tomorrow. Editing my earlier post now!

Clandy44, Please don't be upset by the reaction and discussion that followed. When you post an article you never know what way the discussion will go. I posted an article once and the discussion went in a completely different direction that what I thought would happen. That's just the way it goes sometimes. I appreciate you posting the article because I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. ← I'll join the silent majority on this one! Clandy, your posting the article was very much appreciated here. Would not have read this if you had not relayed it! Your thread went all sideways, a typical Organissimo happening! Please post more

The singer on the cover of the Nigel-Hayer release looked like Monica Vitti in a not too good day and it took me a few seconds to reconnect with the name. Those who have read James Gavin's biography of Chet Baker 'Deep In a Dream' will probably be familiar with her relation to the trumpet player. Ruth Young The just released 2002 session with alto saxophonist Herb Geller (and pianist Walter Lang, vibraphonist Wolfgang Lackerschmid and bass player Rocky Knauer) is a pretty good try. No need to look far for the name of the singer who influenced her! James Gavin wrote the liner notes. There was a version of 'My Funny Valentine' which was supposed to be included in the album but was left out of the final release. Ruth Young decided against its use 'for several reasons'!
