👍 There's not much exploring in mostly rural Plant City and anyway I stick to the property in the dead of pre-dawn mornings. Stuck at 80-85 pounds lost and want to reach at least 100 total.

I think there was a strong sense of invasion of an established community which could certainly be discombobulating for people already there. But my own recollection is that Lon suggested coming here and that is what I did.

Congratulations, and may I ask, what has six months of 5 miles a day accomplished? I have been closer to about 4 miles a day, virtually every day, for about 17 months now.

I can't believe its only two years since I posted this; it would be a few months before items started appearing on the Aviary website for streaming. I have been planning to count it all up but if forced to guess, I would estimate 40-50 hours of Percy France exists in the Phil Schaap Jazz Collection. To put that in perspective, my first pass at a France Sessionagraphy equated to about 30 CDRs worth, if memory serves.

You'll have to let me know if TNA is any good. The current mix of "gymnastic" wrestlers and insanely risky spots has turned me away but I was surprised that AMC had gotten into the business. Wrestling will never not exist in this country.

Years ago, if I do recall correctly, a Harry Allen performance that owed a great deal to Stan Getz got the description of "corpse-fuckery" or something like that from @JSngry so that was going to be my hint on this one. This one, though only got "walking in somebody's else's shoes".

Did not anticipate that getting ID'd. Now over to @JSngry and why he did not recognize Plas. Edit to add: 26 days to go and only the two versions of Things Ain't remain to be ID'd?!

It's truly amazing how things can be found still after so many years of pursuing Percy France's story. There had been a rather mysterious recording that appeared on the Aviary website of Phil Schaap Jazz Collection digitized recordings: "Jeff Burtch 40th Birthday Party" with no date other than "1986?". Nevertheless I welcomed it as it was a recorded encounter between Earle Warren and Percy France, with a rhythm section of Jim Roberts, piano, Peck Morrison, bass and Ronnie Cole drums. I did some internet sleuthing and began to suspect that an artist named Jeff Burtch was the birthday honoree but his connection to the musicians and the West End was a mystery. According to the internet, Burtch was a sculptor and painter who died in 2021 and turned 40 in, yes, 1986. I found a website with an email to contact his wife and she gave me details of Burtch's West End story: he was a bartender at the West End and later ran the jazz room, between about 1973 and 1986. That was the year he turned 40 and was able to pursue his artwork full time. In addition to the celebration at the West End that was found in Schaap's collection, the same group came to the Burtch home in Rockland County, NY and performed on July 19, 1986. Keira Burtch shared these photos with me. And the group plus Phil Schaap and the birthday celebrant:

I think that asking that any negative comments about vinyl or vinyl reissues be kept to a dedicated thread is antithetical to the spirit of a discussion forum. I also had no idea that some members would be so sensitive of anything that harshes their vinyl mellow as to propose such a thing or would drift away from the forum because of such comments. I guess give and take isn't welcome in this sub-forum. Since people will probably keep speaking their minds might I suggest a judicious use of the Ignore button? Vinyl enthusiasts could mark those who aren't so enthusiastic to "Ignore" and then, in other forums, click "View Post" on topics that aren't likely to offend. I for one will keep mostly ignoring the vinyl forum.
