You obviously have far wider ears than either of us. You and I have a fairly large sweet spot we share, Felser and I a slightly smaller one. You and he would have more to enjoy together, no doubt, since so much of what you deeply enjoy is, I think, the focus of John's listening, most of the time I wouldn't decline an invite though.

I usually use my Goldwave audio editing software to extract Wav or FLAC files from CDRs (and sometimes Redbook CDs) for sharing with others. What Goldwave doesn't read, I have some free audio ripper program that has to my recollection never failed to extract to whatever format I want/need. So I would not assume you have corrupted files and would at least consider trying some other "ripping" software first before you chalk it up to a handful of files that have degraded.

I remember them fondly from the Sinatra Group but it wasn't actually Steve or Edie.

I think vinyl is Ltd edition not to be repressed. CDs aren't. So better value and won't get overpriced for a long time. Win/Win (green smilie here)

An added benefit to your return Tony - I am not sure if I was aware of this one or not but I have been on a big Buddy Tate kick and hopped into Amazon to order this one. I think if I was aware of it in the past George Wein might have scared me off ... but I've heard him a bit on some videos I've acquired and he was good enough. And Tate has really become a focal point of purchases lately so reasonable price, I'm on it. So even though your guess was wrong, it was appreciated.

I had to go back and refresh my memory. That was an easy post/reaction. Justin was absolutely trollish in the comment that sparked so much unpleasantness. So let's stir some new shit related to OP: I love Gene Harris. I am agnostic about OP (like several, more agreeable to the sideman/"support" dates). You (meaning everybody with an opinion on OP)? And why, since they both claim inspiration from boogie woogie pianists and both have blues sensibility that is mostly front and center. And while Gene never reached OP levels of fame, he had a deep connection to audiences and in the latter half of his career toured the world many times, with Ray Brown, leading his own quartet, and fronting the Phillip Morris Big Band.

I actually thought specifically about Booker Ervin after my last post about Harper. For me, It's Ervin mixed with Coltrane/Sanders to great detriment. Sorry my 2c.

Blakey croaks out "For All We Know" too - not exactly a highlight. I'll post my guesses later but on this one I guessed Sanborn. Hurts to realize that it proves the old presumption that there will be a BFT track that I have but don't recognize.

I admit I purchased this LP purely because of the alto soloist on my chosen track, Curtis Peagler. It was track A3, "A Greasy Brown Paper Bag". @JSngry ID'd it as something played when he was much younger and came close to the title, yet the album says that Leslie Drayton wrote and arranged all tracks, so go figure. Some other heavy hitters in the band and there are several other LPs recorded by the group. I of course invite all other contributors to post here their reveals of their track details.

I am definitely in on that though uncertain if it will be immediate or later this year. But should be very good.

I plan to post the reveal thread with the answer on my selection. Other contributors should post at their earliest convenience. Maybe to make reveals "pop" the contributors should use a larger font?

I guess you haven't heard that John Cleese is working on a musical version of Life of Brian and has been told in no uncertain terms that the scene featuring Eric Idle's desire to be a woman named Loretta and to have children is absolutely unacceptable today.
