  1. Here's the current BFT signup thread, whose discussion is going pretty strong: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=54196 Here's the signup thread: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=5509 January 2010 and beyond is open.
  2. Probably too derivative of T-Bone, but I likes me some Anson Funderburgh. Ronnie Earl has an interesting blend of blues and jazz.
  3. First match on Saturday, starting at noon, to be followed by the Men's Doubles finals and the two women's semis, with Williams-Clijsters not to begin before 8 PM. Men's semis starts Sunday at noon, with coverage to be determined (CBS starting at 4:30) and the Women's Final in prime time, again, coverage to be determined. Men's final Monday at 5 PM. All subject to change given the continued soggy forecast.
  4. Finally, something that could compete with the Yule Log.
  5. Can't help you there but methinks you should join us for a Blindfold Test, since you were the one who had the idea and got it started way back when.
  6. I just sent you an email, Allen.
  7. Lafayette "Thing" Thomas? I'm surprised you aren't familiar with him. Best known as a big part of Jimmy McCracklin's Blues Blasters and widely recognized as a major blues guitar influence on the west coast. Lots of appearances on Bob Geddins' labels, as well as a couple of the Bluesville releases. Found this discography at Blindman's.
  8. Lafayette Thomas.
  9. Tony Jerant, its damn nice to see you here.
  10. Same here. Or more accurately, I would put whichever new set or sets I was interested in on my Christmas list; Mom loved the convenience of getting just what I wanted.
  11. Past sets are no longer legally licensed from the rights holders and therefore cannot be legally sold as FLAC downloads.
  12. Agreed on the first part. There is no question there was a critical reappraisal during the reissue boom. The second part is accurate only in limited places like this person's blog (Mobley as "innovator"), and perhaps among those who just don't get him or understand why others enjoy his music, he might be viewed as "overrated" but I don't think that applies to the critical community. For Mobley to be viewed as overrated by the critical community, he'd have to be elevated to the ranks of the true innovators and geniuses - Hawkins, Young, Parker, Coltrane.
  13. I wonder how Ellen was effected by this horrible thing that happened at Mosaic.
  14. If that were so, then what is Serena's excuse for her gigantic, nasty ugly ass?
  15. My mother's ass is a helluva lot smaller than this gigantic, ugly thing:
  16. She was completely out of sorts, her face gave away the fact that she had no clue what to do when nothing is working, and she didn't have the benefit of an opponent giving many points away. I am sure CBS is very disappointed, they really wanted her to cruise to the Final and play the winner of Clijsters/Fat Ass.
  17. No, I don't think its possible to do any worse. She has no background or knowledge about singing. She didn't produce, or play bass, or have hit records, or write and record hit records, like the previous four. What is the point? Are they going to turn it into a laugh riot? I could see Ellen making amusing comments in the early audition shows but beyond that this makes no sense at all. And I don't think she'll take on the role of taking offense to whatever Simon says. They obviously decided they needed a "name", I thought someone like Deborah Gibson would get it. At least someone who knows something about the industry and singing.
  18. Number one, Jim has asked us not to quote entire articles. We're supposed to provide an opening paragraph or two and a link. Number two, whoever this guy is, calling Hank an "innovator" is really stretching it. Hank had a personal conception that a lot of people like. But an innovator? Number three, this guy has a real problem here: After talking about the supposed decline of swing and referencing Grover Washington, he writes: So, before swing (as a rhythm) declined, people were putting down cats like Mobley? And Alfred himself was dissing him? The guy who recorded Hank 25 times as a leader, probably 1/3 of that after The Sidewinder? Uh, I don't think so.
  19. Astounding incompetence but I don't think it has to indicate a massive list of BN deletions, which would probably be in the works regardless of some boneheaded decision to destroy things not meant to be destroyed. I think the bigger issue here is the effect on Mosaic's bottom line. They have lost a group of sets that were a source of revenue, and they have lost out on a surge in revenue when these sets reached Last Chance. Obviously there are lots of other sets not effected by this, but it still has to hurt.
  20. Like a lot of Craig's List ripoffs, they will send you a check or money order in excess of the amount agreed to, then ask you to send the difference back. The check or money order is fraudulent, you've violated Federal Law when the bank catches up to it, and they've received their money in the meantime, which the bank will take out of your account, if your balance allows it, or hold you responsible for it. That is, if you aren't arrested for passing bad checks.
  21. Over the little league fence, the very definition of a "Yankee Stadium III" homer that doesn't go out anywhere else. BFD! Swisher's hit 26 HRs on the year now...only 5 of them at Yankee Stadium. Plus, last time I checked, it's the same "Little League fence" for visiting batters as well. Yeah, yeah. And I'll laugh when the visitors hit a few out in the same way - barely clearing a shorter fence that is 5-10 feet closer to the plate. Its a joke, just as people laughed at Coors Field.
  22. I'm not motivated to post a link but MLB.com has an article about "Cholly" actively thinking about replacing Lidge with Myers, so you really ought to stop worrying. Over the little league fence, the very definition of a "Yankee Stadium III" homer that doesn't go out anywhere else.
  23. I am rather torn - I'm not a Nadal fan but I find the other guy's act tiresome and boorish. If I were assured of Nadal's eventual defeat, I'd love to see him kick this guy's ass the rest of the way.
  24. I'm just funnin' with you, its really not necessary.
  25. Yes it was!
